So people have gotten results from the Intel board? I applied, but didn't really expect to get in anyway. Looks like SWO it is...

they say any news is good news but i think that equates to you got picked up but not for what you wanted, not gonna complain just let down.

i won't ever give up if i don't get what i want... i will try to get to the field i want. i just wish i were a fly on the wall to see what might have swayed their decision even to not give me my first choice.

but hoooyah regardless, bring it on if i made it to the officer rank!!!!!!

i'll let you guys know if i am just being paranoid or if the front seat will have to wait. wish luck to all those who are chasing the k-12 of careers.

I am lost, what did you get picked up for? I assume NFO due to your "front seat will have to wait" comment. Look at this as something good that happened, and that this new career will be exciting and something you can add to your excitment for Navy Pilot. Go into it excited, and never tell yourself that you are ONLY a SWO, or ONLY an NFO becuase you didn't make Pilot, but tell yourself that you are going to be a GREAT SWO or A GREAT NFO, that way you will enjoy what you do. This really works with any job, but it is important because sometimes you have to do what you don't like to get to your end goal... and as long as your end goal is NAVY Officer, then look at it as a sucessful victory, though just through a different route.

On the other hand.... if you truly madly deeply want to be an Pilot, then go for it, keep trying, and "wait and you shall receive"... I believe I have heard that on AW more than once.

(Following is hypothetical)
Maybe there wasn't anything wrong with your package, maybe it was right up there with the competetive packages, just unfortunate luck of the draw you weren't picked due to quota constraints... maybe it was your GPA that was too low, which would only frustrate you because you cant go BACK and change that, maybe blah blah blah. My point is, your package is as good as you could make it, otherwise you wouldn't have submitted, just keep trying. Good luck man, keep me posted.

Were you going for BDCP or a direct slot?

direct slot, and as of right know i know i was selected but for what i am unsure, i just freaking worry too much!!

i am stoked about the acceptance at what ever field i was selected for, because you are right being an officer is the #1 goal and pilot as well but if i get my 2nd or 3rd choice then those are the cards delt to me and i will make the best of any situation....it could be worse, i could still be an a-ganger on a submarine still pumping sanitaries.

i really appreciate the encouragement and your opinion as well. my way of thinking is never give up and push through so no matter what i get accepted for(if it is nfo then i will keep trying for pilot after getting pinned as an nfo, or if it is swo i will keep on pushing through being the best i can be and try to be in command one day) i know i am fourtunate, just that dream as a youngster of being a naval aviator is just hard to close the book on if there is a shot even a very very slim one.

i am gonna continue to train and study for ocs and hopefully whenever i get an offical word back from my command i will have a date to class up and new focus for what ever job they have assigned me to be a part of and get ready to shed the dungarees and throw on some kahkis(spelling) hooooooooyyyyyahhhh!!!

I am thinking about either enlisting to the air force or navy as an officer and wanting to find a place where i can get the best type of study guide for the entery exams to either training schools air force(OTS) or Navy (OCS)? And what would be the lowest score i can get inorder to be accepted

ARCO books are free online (Military flight aptitude tests, 6th edition (and 2nd too); Officer Candidate book). They are posted on AW or you can google them. They cover both branches' tests also (Army's too). I also bought the Barron's Military Flight Aptitude Tests book from '06 and found it very helpful for the ASTB.

I used the peterson's books http://www.petersons.com/dod/Default.aspx?sponsor=12894 on the right side of that screen, I think they have AF stuff on there too.
And for needed scores (for navy at least) find the job here http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/noru/orojt/generalofficer.htm and it should have the necessary entrance stuff listed.

Hello everyone, found out from my recruiter that I made NFO and Supply, didn't get picked for Intel. He showed me the selections and only three people got picked up on Intel and there were two alternates. I got Meps on Tuesday which I hope everything is fine.
I just started reading on this site, but I am sort of nervous about NFO, because it seems like a lot of people have been booted in medical at OCS. My ultimate goal is to be a Navy Officer, so if I go NFO and my flight medical KO's me can I still go on to Supply? Sorry if it's a newb question, still got a lot to read.
Thanks

hey everyone, my captain called with the results that i was picked up for snfo. thanks for everybodies help and i am sure you all got tired of listening to my whinning a$$ but like laser go pewpew said if i did'nt want nfo i should'nt have put it down as one of my choices( i thought i had to choose three and not just the one i wanted, thanks for nothing career counselers)know i have to make the biggest decision ever.

stay navy and try to get picked up for pilot latr in flight school or in the fleet, or cross over to the marines and be garunteed a position for pilot but give up the navy.

kinda freaked out, one because i would hop into the marines having only known navy, and two leave what i know i am good at being a hard charger in the navy. feel like it's my fault for getting myself in this position but i still can have a chance at the boyhood dream, just in a different branch of service.

well THANKS TO EVERYONE and your patients, i am sure there will be many after me as worried as i was but hopefully others will learn from my mistakes and get what they want and if not also learn from my way by never quitting till they get what they want out of the military. you all are a great help and resource and hope that i can continue to use your inputs and experiences when making these important decisions.

If I were you I would take it now. Because more than likely you're going to get asked about why you rejected if you do.

I put down SNA/SNFO on mine and really didn't know much about NFO when I did put it down. I did some research and asked some questions on the board and come to find I thought it would be a really sweet deal.

I say go for it and continue giving your best.

That's all you can give.
