I don't disagree with you, but I'd add Boehner, Cruz, Lee, Mark Meadows, and a few more to you list with Obama and Reid. Why is it telling about the Dems that there hasn't been a budget, but not about the Repubs? That couldn't possibly be your bias speaking, could it?Bottom line on this shutdown is that there is a LACK OF LEADERSHIP - on ALL sides. The Pres is coming off like a little kid who can't get his way so he resorts to calling names and crying to the press. Same with Reid in the Senate. The GOP has no clue what it's doing when it comes to getting its message out to the people - that's IF it could agree on a message. The whole thing is ridiculous. The name of the game is sit down and work out a compromise - it's not like this is the first time this has happened. I think it speaks a great deal to the mindset of the Dems and the Pres that there has no been a budget passed since Bush was in office...
Suicide Caucus - great band name.
I think you overestimate the influence the folks in the Tea Party have. The entire shutdown is due to the Tea Party nutters in the House failing to understand that they are not going to get their way with their 42nd attempt to defund the ACA. The shutdown is all about the ACA.

I side with many of the Tea Party principles, but that is certainly no secret around here for anyone that has been on here awhile. That said, the Tea Party itself is a very poorly organized group of many, many Tea Party groups. There has certainly been a concerted effort to become more organized, but that organization has mainly been by the Republican party hijacking Tea Party groups' efforts. If the Tea Party as a collective had half the influence that the media and other folks think they have, we never would have been in this mess in the first place. We'd have a properly balanced budget (i.e. not these ridiculous CR's) passed through the appropriate channels, the deficit would be near zero, and Obamacare would be non existent. But alas, the Tea Party doesn't have that influence.I must say, I give them credit for doing what they've been able to do starting as a grassroots movement and coalescing into something that actually has pull. Personal beliefs aside, they've done well.
