Does anyone know if all the grip components will just come in the box with instructions, or will Sig train retailers to fit guns to individuals? Just curious.

That's pretty cool. Looks like a better, more flexible idea than the P229 that I have - you can switch barrels between .40 and .357SIG on the same slide and frame.

I agree that it is an interesting idea, but I am not exactly jumping on the bandwagon with this one. I am a little skeptical about it....even if it is a sig.
You can do that with a P229 as well... (switch barrels)
It does not look like it comes with a 22 barrel. I would always recommend a 22 for your first gun.
Unless he has shooting experience already...
My first firearm was a SIG P226 9mm. I had 3 years of shooting experience prior to purchasing.
I have a fair amount of shooting experience...granted it's a ll with Navy issue firearms (9mm Beretta, M-14, M-16, Mossberg 12-guage Shotgun) but I'm confident that I don't need to shoot a .22 before I go get a "real" gun

I don't know, I always take my .22 to the range when I go shoot. Hell of a lot cheaper to brush up on my fundamentals with that than .45 ammunition. It's no substitute for practicing with my actual carry guns, but a great addition to practicing with them. Plus, my Ruger Mk II is just a blast to shoot.
