I've been in the Corps for 5 years and an officer for 1 so I don't have too much experience. However on both the enlisted and officer side I can say that the only thing that's counted was how much you're willing to put out.
In flight school, the only downside is that minorities are very few so everyone knows who you are. Case in point this weekend I bought my OpsO beer with both of us in civvies and when I tried to introduce myself he said he knew who I was. I've never talked to the man before. My point is that whatever you do(good or bad) it's alot easier for the IP's to describe you to other IP's.
