I spent a couple hours at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center on my way back from my 72 in Washington and thought I'd share some of the pictures I took. Hope you all enjoy them.

Great pics, did you get a close up of the Do 335 Arrow?

It looks like this and it's in the background of this photo. It wasn't on display yet when I last went there. It's the only one known in existence, too.

I've got to say that I'm very impressed and happy to see that our Nation's museum hasn't surrendered to the PC Police. The German warbirds sport accurate markings, meaning they have swastika tail flashes.

I'm no Nazi (the thought is ludicrous to those who've physically seen me, read I'm NOT white) but I hate nothing more than revisionist displays and restored warbirds lacking accurate markings in the name of "PC".

Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Five years ago I went to D.C. to hear a history professor of mine get his draft aviation book get shredded by the curators (think MC board for academics) at the NASM.
I went up there with another aviation buff, 3 days, no wives or kids, after hours access to the NASM and 16 total hours at Udvar-Hazy.
The hotel was next to a sports bar with great wings and cheap beer.

Airplane dorks? You bet.

Looks like a great museum, but what a shame about the ugly barriers. I much prefer museums that allow visitors to actually walk 360 degrees around the aircraft at close proximity - the F-14 and F-35 look pretty closed-off.
