What knowledge questions did you have to answer during RLP?
I'm pretty sure the only thing that kept me from failing was the fact that I knew the proper warfare insignia descriptions of my entire chain of command. It'll just make your life easier the more you know beforehand.

Hey all,
I dont know if this qualifies as a stupid question but here goes it...
I cant seem to get my PU/SU numbers up. I've tried a bunch of online programs including doing upwards of 300 each during the course of a normal gym session. I have tried follwing the "failur in 2 min., 1 min rest, failure in 1 min, 1 min. rest, failure 30 sec ect.... nothing seems to help. In fact the aforementioned program seems to be decreasing my numbers. Im at a loss. I go to OCS as early as March 12. Right now my numbers are at 60 and 70 PU and SU respectively but I'ld be lying if I said that was without touching the knees on PU for a second here and there. Any advice on how to increase these would be much appreciated. I am still working on building muscle in the gym so maybe I need to stop that. On the plus side, I'm OCD when it comes to form so I dont think I have anything to worry about as far as numbers being subtracted for form goes.

Those numbers will suffice. I had never been able to finish more than 90 c/u in 2 minutes prior to OCS and during the initial strength test, I hit 105 in 90 seconds because I was totally amped. If you're worried about it, switch to a calisthenics only workout and only do pushups instead of any weights you might be doing. The best way to get better at pushups is to do more pushups (wide, narrow, regular). Don't kill yourself in the process, save your high rep sets for the end of the week when you can recover. The biggest tip for maxing curl ups (or just getting a higher score) is to recognize that it's as much a leg workout as an ab workout. Do squats and lunges, build your core, and pace yourself. If you do 20 c/u every 30 seconds, you'll hit 80.

Don't neglect running. It's not just the fitness tests; plenty of other events require you to move and be comfortable running. Can't tell you how many I saw roll with running injuries.

Yeah my running is at a 9:30 mile and a half pace on pavement so im less worried about it but it is still a worry. I know i could get at least a sat med now but ive heard horror storries of people that drop 20 or 30 points because of exhaustion and stress... I'ld rather be prepared for that to happen with higher numbers. Ill switch to the calisthenics in the gym and see if that stems the issue.
Thank you @NicNakPaddywhak for the quick response

The hit the deck program here gave me the best results.

Though I wouldn't worry too much about your push ups dropping. You'll have adrenaline, but do stay hydrated.

Do this...know all of them

Or just know one or two really well and keep screaming them at maximum volume while RPTing the dogshit out of yourself. :D

I locked up and could only remember a few items from my gouge book, two being the Marine's Hymn and Anchors Aweigh, respectively. So the DI inspecting me would ask me questions and I'd just sound off ballistically one of the things I knew for each question he asked. Eventually he gave up on asking gouge questions and proceeded to hurricane my room and told me to shut up and RPT myself until my heart exploded. But at least I passed. Good times.

Hey, just recently graduated OCS a couple of weeks ago and am happy to help answer any questions. I'm also prior-enlisted so I can help answer anything specifically related to that accession path as well.

So, this is probably an extremely stupid question, but I'm reading that for people going to OCS, you need your medical, dental, and immunization records. As someone who has moved around a ton and has not had too many hospital visits (fortunately), I am finding it very hard to track down the location of my records.

I definitely disclosed everything at MEPS, so I'm wondering if bringing all those records is completely necessary? Shouldn't my health information already be contained in my packet? I did not need a medical waiver or anything like that.

Thanks in advance...

I didn't have any of this stuff. Not a factor. Week one, you'll go to the Naval Health Clinic and they'll take all kinds of blood and tests, as well as the dental clinic. They'll make you a new dental record for the Navy, take some x-rays. They even fixed a pre-cavity for me. With your blood samples, they'll figure out which immunizations you've had and which have expired, then they'll line everyone up in like week 5 or 6 and tell you which shots to get. Unless you need a waiver for something, don't sweat it.

Thanks guys! That relieves a good amount of stress on my mind. The wait is already anxiety inducing enough as it is.

How long are Officer Appraisals good for? I thought for sure I saw somewhere that it was 12 months, but now that I am looking for it, I am not finding anything. Is there any official instruction giving a timeline for the validity of appraisals?

For those with waivers, bring everything you can. Going into MEPS I needed a knee waiver. I had no record of the surgery (over 10 years ago) but a civilian ortho looked at me so MEPS gave me the ok. Week 1 of OCS, the flight surgeon said my status depended on the surgical record. After 10 weeks, all we could produce was a scribbled note from the surgeon about the procedure. NAMI somehow gave me the clear but life would have been a lot easier if I had just had the stupid record.
