Paperwork to bring to OCS:
What do they want for financial history?
Do they want dental/medical records since turning 18, or before 18 and up?

According to the OCS website the only financial thing we have to bring is a voided check for direct deposit purposes.

I planned on bringing the same documentation I gave to my recruiter, which includes pre 18 and obviously anything that has happened since if applicable

All I brought was my bank info and a void check. They'll know about your financial history before you even get selected. Keep all travel receipts.

If you have anything noteworthy, you can bring that (surgeries, major procedures, etc.) but I wouldn't bother pulling your general checkup/dental records. I didn't and I was just fine. If you have recent immunization records, you can bring those which might get you out of a few shots at OCS.

I never gave my recruiter any medical paperwork. I only have my MEPS paperwork

Hi. Do we have to memorize the Code of Conduct and Watch-standing Principles prior to OCS class?
I would hold off on the chain of command until you get there. You can memorize the ones toward the top because the probably won't change much, but the bottom ones will.

You have the right idea about the big 4. If you have time and you want to memorize more, that'll make you even more prepared. But if you have the big 4 memorized before you arrive, you'll already be ahead of the game.

The Big 4 being Code of Conduct, Chain of Command, Orders of a Sentry, and Rank Structure

Reporting to OCS on the 24th of November. I have a couple questions regarding holiday stand down.

1. We probably would get 3 weeks in before getting holiday stand down for 2 weeks, which also means that we should finish RLP. Do you recommend staying or taking leave during those two weeks?

2. Would we still be treated as indocs?

3. If I choose to stay, what kind of things will I be doing?

4. Will we have mandatory PT? Do we get liberty? Will we have access to the gym/pool? Will we remain prisoners at OCS?

The way it used to be is that for Christmas block leave, they'd actually let you go home - then you'd come back and finish OCS. Pretty sweet gig if you ask me. I'll let others speak as to whether or not that is still the policy.

From what I've heard from my buddy who was at OCS during the holiday stand down:

Taking leave is up to you, why not escape for a week?

You're still a whatever phase your in but absent most staff and any training it's pretty relaxed, but dont get complacent.

Whatever you want to do, but you're still limited by most of the regs especially in Nimitz hall.

No training occurs and it seems like its pretty much all day on base liberty the gym, bowling alley and MWR is authorized for use.

Again, why not go home (except money for travel) and be literally at home for a week?

When answering questions about rank structure, do you respond with rank, collar device, shoulder boards, and sleeve insignia all in the same response?

Depends what they ask and how they ask it. I've heard people get asked to list their chain of command and what each person wears on their collar. If I remember correctly, I think I got asked the marine ranks from lowest to highest and what the shoulder insignia was for each one. Know all of them so you're ready for any possible question.

I got asked 1-16 chain of command, their pay grade, collar device, and shoulder boards while doing burpees, push ups, running planks etc. You’re going to want to memorize everything in Bravo.
