Summary of NFO flight school

Hi all,

I was recently selected for SNFO and I’m set to ship out to OCS in about a month. I’ve heard that having immediate family members who are foreign nationals could make someone ineligible for a Special Access Program (SAP), potentially resulting in removal from the aviation pipeline.

Can anyone currently in the pipeline or familiar with the process confirm whether this is true or provide more insight?

Many platforms do not require SAP eligibility, and having foreign nationals as family won’t necessarily make you ineligible, but it could depending on the country they’re from and their ties to it. It’s a complicated process and something to bring up during your initial clearance paperwork interviews. Not going to discuss which platforms here.

I don’t think there is any NFO platform that doesn’t require SAP eligibility.

So nothing has changed since at least 2008 then. Love it.

At least the early 90's! They were still clearing the backlog from then when I showed up in the mid-90's, the fact I reported to Pensacola just two weeks after graduation was an anomaly when folks had stayed at school for up to a year beforehand. Add another year or in a few cases two waiting to start up while in Pensacola some folks waited a long time before actually starting flight school.
