No, no one ever confirmed my fluency in Spanish. I actually didn’t even mention my language proficiency in my kit, so if they deduced I was fluent in Spanish, it was from my transcript alone. (And we all know that’s not a good indication of language proficiency). I think many people have said the board actually doesn’t care if you speak multiple languages, because no intel O of any designation will need any language other than English. Only CTIs need to know other languages.
But yes, sometimes the board will stick you somewhere you didn’t apply if they just want to pick you up but maybe didn’t have a spot left in the designator(s) you did apply for. Someone theorized I got IP (even though I didn’t apply for it or list it as an option) because all intel / IW spots maybe have been taken but they wanted to go ahead and pick me up. RUFIO said he’s seen people apply for IP and get picked up for Intel, etc. Seems like all the intel designators are fair game if they really want to pick you up.
