T-45 sighting

Lonestar155

is good to go
But I will call the guys down at my flying club tomarrow and confirm if it departed from there. I know 2500 ft. is way too short for a T-45, but I swear it left from there.

I can't remember how far from the approach end it is, but it ain't far ...

I had an Instructor (while trying to impress me returning from Gun-1) land from the back seat on RW 25L @ Sherman Field and make the turn off on A-5.

That's .... in front of the E-28 bi-directional gear.

He did it (no hook, as depicted) ... and blew the left main mount tire.

Now, THAT really impressed me ... :)

Okay, okay, I plead fuzzy memory . . . I haven't used BETA in forever so I suppose I forgot the extent of its wonderful capabilities . . .

And you'll soon learn the joys of Prowler braking as well.

SkidKid,
You did an airshow here? Thats awesome! What did you fly?

I was going to make a smartass comment, but it's just too easy...

As for "Mustang Beach," that link says the runway is about the size of Silverhill's actual landing area (3400'). Pul-lenty of room. You can get a T-34 stopped in 1000' easy.

That was my point. On the approaches into NGP flying over the Lex I often wondered if you could land a T-34 on it and stop. Probably could.

Land a T-34 on the LEX with 25 knots over the deck ??? :) Probably. With the LEX as a static display ??? I wouldn't ....

Slight "Sea-Story":

I launched twice in the C-1 COD right seat to the beach --- deck run 'a la WW2 --- no catapults .... just get 25-30 knots down the angle, full power at the ramp, release the breaks and go --- and change your (my) flight suit when we get to the beach.:)

..... LAUNCH 'EM !!!

(*edit* .. hey, how 'bout that?? --- pix #3
is the actual bird/actual deck ... now who could know??? ) :)

Some guys with too much time on their hands even ran the NATOPS numbers for the A-6 ... clean wing with @ 9000# of gas ... 30 knots across the deck ... deck run her from the stern and use the whole deck ... the book said you could "make" it with @ 200' to spare.

...... Obviously not "clean wing" ...

Plus that whole nozzle rotation line..

I knew the MiniBoss on Iwo (old OIC), When he was describing your t/o, he said it was "freaky" at first to watch.

Have been approved for a "Deck Run" on the Iwo by the boss (old CO) but that was done from a low hover instead of a true running takeoff..

On the TR, we deck launched a S-3 from anchor. Quite a sight. We also would occassionally launch and recover S-3s downwind (usually when the BG Commander had to make a run to/from Naples and we weren't otherwise doing flight ops).

T-45 just landed at Paine Field here in Everett. I was in the pattern with it. I landed, parked and went to the terminal where it was parked. Got escorted to it and got to take some pictures. :). Was out of Mississippi.

EDIT: Pics were taken with a cell phone camera, pretty good when considering that. Anyone know what that heavy Boeing is called? I forgot the name.

Well hell. Since this has turned into a reporting of T-45 sightings, I saw one take off from Mayport 2 weeks ago. Maybe we should keep a log.:icon_smil
