Taking ASTB today, wish me luck

Taking the ASTB today at 4:30. It's a paper version so i don't know when I'll get my scores back. Wish me luck!!!
 
My only concern right now is the Aviation and Nautical info section. I'm an engineer by trade so the math, reading and mechanical stuff is a piece of cake. Thank in advance for all the great advice around here. I wouldn't feel near as prepared had I not found this site. WTF did people do before the internet ;)
 
Yeah, time is the BIGGEST killer on that test!! Watch out. Also, I found that when the reading section came around I relaxed since it's not that tough. BIG MISTAKE! I took the ASTB twice before being Pro-rec'd and that hurt me both times. I had to start getting into the mind-set during the test that I can focus and stay alert for three hours when the results of those three hours can/will determ an awesome career.

Also, when it comes to the Aviation and Nautical section, some of the questions can be answered by just crossing out the obvious wrong answers...some though are just general knowledge in that area. Do you have your PPL? Or, have you taken some flight lessons?

No I don't have a PPL and I didn't take flight lessons. I didn't have time between trying to get in shape to pass the PFT and working full time (I'm out of school and working in an engineering career). I just read A LOT. Now I'm just doing some last minute brushing up on the trivia. I'll let you guys know what I get.
 
Well, that test was a lot more difficult than all the test prep materials would lead you to believe. I suprisingly felt like I struggled on the math section and had to hurry up and guess on 4 questions to finish. I finished all the other sections with time to spare. I feel like I did really well on the mechanical comp, the navigation and aviation stuff, and the spacial aperception. I think I did ok on the reading comp and the math.

When it comes the the spacial apperception, the ARCO book is a joke compared to the actual test. Almost all of the questions had the plane flying out to or in from the sea and an angle to the shore. I would say that of the 30 questions, maybe 3 or 4 of them were strait at the horizon or parallel to the shore. Only 1 of the arco questions were like that.

Suprisingly, the aviation supplement was all reading comp and 3 of the questions were repeats from the initial reading comp section.

I'm curious to see how I did relative to how I feel I did. By the way, I took form 5.
 
Nice! Sounds like you did well... I had a tough time on the math section also. My recruiter said that the aviation supplement actually doesn't count in anyof your scores and that it's actually for the NOMI people to study some kind of test taking skills or what will work better in the future. Not sure if that is true though...anyone know if that's true? My aviation supplement was ALL math questions.
