Hello to everyone! Been reading threads on AirWarriors now for about 3 months now and would like to thank everyone for all the great information. Took the ASTB about 4 months ago and did not do as well as I would have liked. Recieved a 5-6-5 and a 38. Very disappointed in myself even though I did not really study that hard. Thought I did better then my scores reflected. Recruiter said I did better then most who take the test, but not sure if I believe him since I've seen how well others have done on AirWarriors. I have excellent letters of recommendation. (1=Naval Master Chief. 1=Marine Master Sargeant. 3=Embry-Riddle Professors.) I feel that my worst portion of my test was the math. I also need to brush up on my mechanical knowledge. Even though all the mechanical knowledge was very basic, the time alloted for that section was very limited. That was the only section I ran out of time on. Aviation and nautical info was easy and the last supplemental section was more mental then difficult. There are more bubbles to fill in then there are questions on that section. I took version 5 of the new test and my recruiter said that was the most difficult version of the ASTB. I have all the ARCO books and have read all the threads with tests and math knowledge. Is there any other information or recommendations that anyone can give me to help with my math portion of the ASTB. Anything would help. Thanks. :dunce_125 :dunce_125

Only other thing I could reccommend other than the Arco books would be a SAT or ACT prep book. One of those might offer a different view on some of the math concepts that might be easier to understand. The nice thing about math (at least the math on these tests) is that everything about it follows some simple rules. If you follow all the rules, you will get it right. The best way to get these is to just simply practice, practice, and practice. I like to look at as many different books as possible to get more sample problems. I'm sure you could find some online too.

Keep in mind that if you're not ready you can always delay taking the test. I believe that you only get three chances to take the ASTB now so don't take the test if you're not ready.
