In my fleet squadron, we had a 1000# inert fall off of a jet and into a farmers field....luckily....they could nto find it because it buried itself....sucks for the combine that runs it over.

Virginia Beach was also "bombed" earlier this year. Tulsa shouldn't feel special.

Airborne All the Way!!!
well, at least it wasn't nuclear! Which has happened....

Now that you mention it, I watched a show a few weeks ago on either the Military Channel or the History Channel that was about a nuke that was accidentally dropped in the '50s off the coast of Georgia & is still missing.

Airborne All the Way!!!

That would be it. The show on it was very interesting. It focused on a group made up of scientists, retired AF personnel, and Navy salvage divers who were trying to locate & possibly recover the bomb using some newly developed sensors. Needless to say, they didn't locate it.

There was an F-104 that made an emergency landing in the parking lot of my Highschool back in the 60's. Im not sure how he got that thing in between the trees and houses but they had photos of it up by the office.

Wow, why hasn't Berkeley been "bombed"? If any city deserved to be bombed it would be that one. :D

Let's take a minute to reflect on the aftermath of that one.

- Huge mobilization of hippies, all with the mantra that there is a military coup taking place in Berkely.

- City council votes to send a strongly worded letter to the bomb concerning its unwelcome presence.

- Code pink takes possession of the blue bomb, paints it pink and puts posters and beads all over it. They put it on a waterboard and follow politicians and servicemembers around with it.

- Somebody will most certainly handcuff themselves to it for one reason or another; probably when we show up to take back possession of it. Hopefully they also set themselves on fire.

- City council rescinds decision to send the bomb a letter because they realize that the bomb doesn't really give a shit, they're the ones that are dumb, and it makes them look like fucking communist cockmonglers.

A couple years back an F-16 rolling into the target in the pine barrens of NJ squeezed off a few rounds into a school. Luckily it was at night. The janitor thought it was just some local kids running along the roof.

The AF has lost at least 3 nukes:
(a) The one off Georgia (still unfound)
(b) One off the Med coast of Spain (found by Navy divers)
(c) One on Thule Bay, Greenland (located by USN a/c)

Tough work keeping up with them nukes
