Hello, first of all I want to say that I did browse most stickies and couldn't find concrete answers to my questions, and the more I read the more of an anxiety attack I seem to get.

I want to be a Jet Pilot, yes, you've heard it before.

I'm 18 y/o and I've already signed for the Marine Corps, I ship April 13th to BC. I have an ASVAP score of 82 and a DLAB score of 132 (I had concidered being a crypto linguist) I am fairly smart. I was reading the qualification requirements for Officers/Pilots and I meet the USMC Officer requrements (ASVAB and SAT part at least) But I was wondering if I am already screwed on becoming a pilot? I know I need to first become an officer but was it a mistake to sign first instead of going to college for 4 years and then signing? I feel sick because it's as if I am finished before ever even starting, and I will be stuck with some BS MOS.

My recruiter isn't much help, after I signed I can't get him on the horn for the life of me, and he just seems really sketchy in general. I am getting the impression that to become a pilot I will first have to get through BC, my MOS job school and then get the Marine Scholorship, get a BA and then go to OCS and the finally flight school? Is this how it works? Can someone please inform me, or at least tell me I'm not entirely screwed...Perhaps someone knows who I can call/contact?

I am not posting here because of a lack of effort using search bars, but because I wan't it from the mouths of people who really know

Thanks in advance fellas.

-Eric

The best part:

Wow, just got back from there and that site has seriously the most awful designer ever. It's such a cluster-**** it's laughable. I couldn't find any discernable information of value after spending over an hour there. The search bar was an exercise in futility as well.

Is there any MOS I can shoot for that would help me in eventually climbing into a cockpit?

Thanks again guys registering here brought me the relief I needed to sleep at night

An AF site should be lots of help for him concerning the Marine Corps. We'll see if he joins our cluster **** site.

This signature made me laugh too:

The average Navy pilot, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
Ah, just saw who started this thread

And how about this gem?
although I did hear some nonsense about Corps being a part of the Navy, at least at one time? Is this just an obscure fact or are they really considered close to the same? When I went to sign all the navy kids were lanky and stupid, and virtually ~ALL~ of their recruiters in the Navy section were morbidly obese, so i'm praying that it isn't the case.

The outcry of an adolescence who feels the best way to make friends is belittle others. Though I imagine 4 years enlisted in the USMC would do wonders for maturity levels, who are we to discourage?

I bet I was a bit of a jackass when I was 18 too ... I just didn't go around highlighting myself on internet sites frequented by brass. Glad to hear that he is getting all the answers he needs from the AIR FORCE. The "force" is strong with this one.

Seems like a lack of preparation on his part.

This kid needs some Bobby Knighting.

I don't see a really big difference between him and most type B wieners who haven't grown all the way up. The Marine Corps often doesn't change that attitude, it just makes it so he'll have the same attitude with some additional swagger and a pack a day smoking habit. Only time can launder out such a wienerish attitude.
