For the Sierra folks out there, is it common to vertrep with the extra weight of the weapon sponsons?

Obviously it's proof of truth in recruiting. From the old naval aviator brochure,

"Variety is the order of the day as a helicopter pilot. You'll have the opportunity to fly different missions from the decks of several types of Navy ships with such missions as anti-submarine warfare or tracking potential enemies. Helicopter pilots search for underwater mines, fly vertical replenishment missions , conduct search and rescue missions, and carry cool stuff on the sponsons because helicopter pilots are always ready for the terries."

It doesn't weigh that much and it's not an easy ON/OFF. Plus, if you do take it off you need to find someplace safe to keep it so the boat donkeys don't break it.
