We went out to the ALRE test site. This is a picture of the first full scale EMALS (electromagnetic catapult), currently under construction. Good luck getting it installed on CVN-78 in time!

Will this mean I cant get jets with my pacemaker?

Say! Glamorizing alcohol! That doesn't look like the Right Spirit to me, Sailor!

(for the record: Fuck the 'Right Spirit')

May I offer you another beer?

I ran into these guys in Grand Junction last Friday on my way to Oregon. I actually knew the pilot. Good to see they made it through the nasty WX in TX.

BTW, Doug at GJT has passed the reins to Jesse. Solid guy and he loves the military just as much as Doug. Definitely a MUST STOP refueling stop for anyone going that direction. The memorabilia there is truly amazing.

It was good to see a Prowler at the air show, I just wish someone from the crew could have been present. I was looking forward to chatting with them.

This thread keeps getting better.
Just wondering- are in-cockpit shots frowned upon?

MODs and Admin, if I have posted an inappropriate photo, PM me and I will remove it from my Photobucket account.

After seeing the shots of the 133 Prowler at Corpus, Thought I'd post one up of the Fighting Cocktail Forks ;)

RAYGUN-11 off Dobbins headed home after a weekend of Braves/Mariners flyby's back in June of 2008.

Here's some pictures from my stopover in NAS Key West. Some jet/AF/P-3 love in here. If you look closely in the second pic you can see all the AF guys staring us down as we taxied by. The F-16s were WI National Guard and the Adversary jets were VFC-111 Sundowners in F-5s.

That's gotta be one of the nicest, cleanest float coats I've ever seen. And on an ABH, too! Must be new.

He's got black tape on his wands so he's a trainee. Notice the pimped out AB wings stencil on his jersey and float coat. I'm betting it's a new float coat.

From those of us doing our aviation appreciation tour:

View from the top of historic Hangar One. The climb to the top is a shooter school tradition. It's about twice as high and four times as big as a standard hangar. For those who don't know, Lakehurst used to be an airship base and is the site of the Hindenburg crash. No, that's not me in the photo.

Is that a flight suit? @ Lakehurst??????? Did you guys chuck off anything from the hangar roof yet?

Yeah, I wasn't in the seat when it happened, but all of a sudden the instructor took the controls and the FE instructor got in the center seat. Did our 16.1 and landed it. Weird thing is they didn't find anything wrong. I'm curious if anything will come of it.

XJ220, had an event with me that day. Unfortunately, we never were able to finish the event. We lost the #1 engine during a touch and go, flamed out at around 105 knots. I took the controls from the other student, and with less than 2500 feet remaining went flying. In addition to that, the prop failed to feather when we shut it down going through 350 feet. The prop brake did not catch it, and it continued to rotate at under 3 percent RPM. An uneventful 3 engine landing at Key West completed the flight, with the #1 prop finally stopping at around 80-90 knots on the runway during reversal. Fun fun.

Rigging, efficiencies, intake, turbine and 1050 checks all were ok. The other P3 pictured was the rescue bird from the afternoon wave. We flew the plane home, and went through more maintenance checks over night and flew today.

I am blaming it all on XJ220 :D It of course had nothing to do with my first flight as an FRS Instructor :) I guess we will know for sure if XJ220's flight tomorrow will be completed, eh? Good luck, and have a fun flight!
