Any guess as to the location?

Two of my west coast squadrons are represented on that wall, VP-1 and VP-6. The VP-1 logo is post 1972. I have a coffee cup with that logo purchased from the JOPA when we were up there for a reunion in '97. The VP-6 logo appears to be pre Steve Warmath's re-do (slimmer shark) circa 1977. Both Hawaii and Moffett squadrons are represented.

I'm gonna guess Adak... :confused:

HAL, I like the old school "skinny dragon" for VP4 up on that hanger. That is the patch I have on my leather jacket! Cool pic, thanks for putting it up.

The qualifications were being held in preparation for the upcoming exercise Talisman Saber 2009 a biennial, combined training activity designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting combined operations, which will help improve combat readiness and interoperability. Essex is the lead ship of the only forward-deployed U.S. Amphibious Ready Group and serves as the flagship for CTF 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force commander.
