HAL it is strange that you posted those pictures of the Arizona Memorial yesterday. I met Admiral Kidd's great granddaughter two nights ago. She goes to school with me. Great girl. She actually lives in the same apartment complex as Admiral Hayler's (namesake of former DD-997) granddaughter lives in. Weird coincidence.

Sir if I could swing it with the Navy and my job, I'd volunteer to take pictures of all the CQ's and let the Navy News use what they wanted for their publishing needs.

I didn't mean to put you down for just posting this one shot, it was pretty cool and I know who was flying 174 so he'll be really excited. I was just hoping there were more, because it seems like every other CQ there's a ton of shots. Hopefully the K'rock guys will have something, or at least the SDO's will have taken some. USS Macon

I just heard about this thing today and was amazed I hadn't heard of it before. What do you guys think would be harder; landing on a boat, or a dirigible?

This image is a frame from a motion picture film, taken from an airplane flying alongside Macon. The planes' pilots were Lieutenant Harold B. Miller (plane on the trapeze) and Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Frederick N. Kivette (plane on the perch). Both planes have their wheel landing gear removed, as was generally the practice when they operated from Macon after 19 July 1934.

I never thought you were putting me down; I was just saying I'd love to be able to make every CQ det and get pictures of all the studs qualifying. As it stands I go to as many air shows as I can and also repost from the Navy News web page.

By the way nice collection you have there. I should have taken more photos from vulture’s row when I was in; I was just too busy launching and recovering to get many pictures.
