Just while we are on the subject of coats.....get you winter weight nomex coat while you are in training (pre-RAG). It is a nice piece of gear, and I know at least at Whidbey, they won't issue you one. Yet they will issue you one in Meridian....hmm....
It's warm and toasty.
That's weird. In the 46 RAG at Pendleton, they issued it to the East Coast guys before we left for our fleet squadrons. Of course, I'm sure they didn't know that my Flight E chief used to work at HMX and knew all of the ins and outs... We never wanted for gear - he took care of us.

That's because the Supply folks at Meridian rock. If you need new flight suits, or are missing a jacket, they will fight the battle to get you your stuff.

....You might want to explain what "The Jungle" was to the uninformed since I can't do it with your eloquence. (yes, this is a cop out) :p
I might -- but I'm not going to ... lots of Claymores hidden therein ..... let 'em learn it for themselves. :)

I got mine while I was at 129. It was, however, the ONLY thing I got while I was at 129. Other than a bunch of document numbers.

To keep this related to the thread, my fancy new jacket had, and still has, only my nametag on it. No more, no less.

Leather Flight Jacket Patches

My CMC has made it his mission to ensure I put patches on my leather jacket so I stop wearing it out of regulation (Yay for SWO commands!). I'm getting tired of the battle, so I'm curious as to what you guys have on your own jacket.

Pictures for color purposes are most welcome!

Nametag and flag.

The guys at flightjacket.com are a lot faster than the gypsy. They do great work as well.

According to the regs, the only thing that is technically required is a nametag. Command patch is optional and everything else is verboten. Yet that gets about as much traction as the one saying enlisted nametapes must be 1/4" above the pocket . . .:icon_tong

I'm with MB.

If the CO is behind the CMC, don't dig a hole for yourself....if not, do what you want.

He's a CMC from the shoe community, right? Does he have or wear a green flight jacket. If you must comply, become his personal uniform police nazi and look him over all the time for "violations."

I'd get a piece of black velcro put on and stick a nametag there when at work, remove and wear out in town.

Here's mine and I wore it this way for the last 6 years of my 20 on active duty.

Wings and Things out of Pcola makes the best looking leather name tag I've seen.

On my own, I have flightjacket.com patches...squadron patch, nametag, and flag (oooh...such a rebel).

Technically, yes.
NAVPERS 15665I said:
Brown Jacket Insignia/Patches. Insignia/patches shall be worn on brown leather flight jackets as follows:

(1) Attachments. Logos may be affixed either hook and pile or directly to the jacket. Hook and pile fasteners will be black or brown and cut to the shape of the logo to be affixed.

(2) Left Breast. Black or brown 2 inches by 4 inches leather name tag. Centered in the top field will be the aircrew designation insignia (i.e., pilot, NFO aircrew EAWS, etc.). The name in block letters will occupy the lower field and will include a minimum first name or initial and last name. Where appropriate, billet title (ie., CO, XO, CAG, etc.) is optional.

(3) Optional Logos. One command patch may be worn over the right breast pocket. Maximum width may not exceed 4-1/2 inches. No other patches are authorized.
