The Great Flight Jacket Thread (wearing/buying Leather, NOMEX, WEP jackets/patches)

Hmm. They told my class september and I wear a 42R jacket. You didn't happen to come across any of those lying around, did you Pags?

On a sadder note! Our Justice system is hitting new lows.......I weep for Judges withoug common sense! It really is getting pathetic
 
The Lady at Aviation Supply P-Cola

Is that old lady still there in P-cola? I almost got in a fist fight with her when she was giving me my gear. One of the guys in my class got into it with her about "parking right in front of the building" instead of in the "student" parking lot(she used her fingers to emphasize the quotations). My buddy explained to her that only possums were up at 0430 in the morning and he will park anywhere he damned well pleased. Life would be a little easier without the lady from gear issue.
 
Do the current issue leather jackets come in long sizes? I'm 6'4" and I still have my flight jacket as issued to me in API way back in 1986. It is a 48 but it's still too short, always was.

Interesting - I still have all my flight gear 10 years after leaving active duty - SV2, helmet, three nomex jackets, 7 flight suits (4 green and three royal blue).
 
Just got gear issued last week (August 19th), and they only had 48 and above in the leather. I wear a 44L suit but they gave me the 48 jacket anyway, and it fits great.
 
Those sneaky bastards promised us our jackets in April (we graduated API in January). It's not like I need it now, since it's only jacket weather in Corpus for like two hours out of the year, but I'm still pissed. I think I'm gonna do my last T-44 solo to Sherman Field so I can bother them in person about it. If I don't get it by my winging I'll just buy one myself.

i wear a 44 and i love my size 48 jacket..nice and snug but that damn sewn in tag keeps poking at me.

It seems like they have a lot of random small sizes and large sizes, and it doesn't matter what you wear - they'll give you what they have most of. For instance, I wear a 32 flight suit (I'm a runt...) , which they have a butt load of, but they had more 34's. Hence, I got 34's and a 36 for the big suit.

It really wasn't a big deal with most of the gear, as I got to exchange it when I got to my fleet squadron. But I did get worked over with the leather jacket. It's so long it's more like a leather dress. But the gear issues dude said it fit fine (I didn't know better), and since I took it, I"m stuck with it.

So don't take gear that doesn't fit, no matter what.

Leather Jackets

Hey all..FY05 pilot here wondering if leather jackets have been issued to people after API? I know there was a large back log of people not getting them as supply only had huge or tiny jackets.
 
This has been going on for over a year already. Still waiting on mine and I graduated API last June. God knows when they're going to get them; NASP supply kept telling me to call back later.
 
I got mine too. When i was in there, two people called and the guy said he didn't have any, and didn't know when they'd be getting any in. After he hung up the phone he went in the back room and brought me out mine.

I know people who left Pensacola a couple of weeks behind me who did not get theirs though, so it still seems hit or miss.
 
Been a year and a half since API. No jacket. Ain't never gonna happen, I figure. They're probably waiting until I retire...then they'll have no need to issue me one.
