Uhhhhhh, because they’re run by the CCP?How does China/CCP/PLA not put prosperity from economic interdependence above ideology?

Those pilots will be limited to domestics only. 65 is still the max for ICAO. Does that seem reasonable as a use-case for our oldest (and most highly compensated) pilots? So apparently 67 is a done deal and it's in the language for the FAA reauthorization as part of the budget compromise. Bipartisan support all around. I'm sure most of you recognize it as strictly a feel good measure but curious what you guys think.
Pretty sure ICAO will fall in line with the new FAA age requirement. Those pilots will be limited to domestics only. 65 is still the max for ICAO. Does that seem reasonable as a use-case for our oldest (and most highly compensated) pilots?
I don’t see it “fixing” anything. Agree with it as a feel-good measure.
Will EASA? How about all the other regulatory agencies? Why? Because daddy FAA said so?Pretty sure ICAO will fall in line with the new FAA age requirement.
I'm just going off what my union put out, but I don't think you're characterizing it accurately. That language barely passed in the house committee by a vote on 2, though the larger bill as a whole was unanimous. The Senate still has to consider it, and their current proposal does not have the age 67 rule. Notably, democrats are less in favor of it, and they run the Senate. Pete Buttiwhatever doesn't support it either, but who cares. So apparently 67 is a done deal and it's in the language for the FAA reauthorization as part of the budget compromise. Bipartisan support all around. I'm sure most of you recognize it as strictly a feel good measure but curious what you guys think.
No reason you cant retire at 65 if you wanted to - yes?
- 2 more years of commuting
- 2 more years of having the opportunity to do carpet dances in the CP’s office [demerits/emi]
That was the case for the increase to age 65. Generally you have the twice divorced with support or alimony payments, pre teen children nearing age 65 retirement, quick sale or foreclosed house in recent history, failed Quiznos franchise, a boat payment and nothing more important in their life than skippering a B787 vs well, those of us that have made better decisions in life and planned for a future that include a comfortable retirement as anticipated when we started our careers. It is almost a 50-50 split .Age 67 is a very divisive topic right now at the airlines. Some people are feel they are harmed, some feel like others make out like bandits, Some people feel they’re owed an age increase.
The basic Med stuff is interesting. Any information on a seat limit increase (more than six)?H.R.3935 - Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act
Some other cool tidbits in this bill:
Federal funding for construction of GA hangars! We need this. Predatory real estate developers are making hangar rates go through the roof - this gets us federal subsidized hangars.
DPE reform - it will be a great time to be a FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. A great retirement gig!
Allowing DPE's to operate under Basic Med
Basic Med reform - permitting a pilot with only Basic Med to operate aircraft up to 12,500 LBS. - WIN!!!!!!
Big federal dollars to GA Airports (non-primary airports in metro areas served by Class B/C airspace)
Federal $$$ to preserve 100LL AVGAS!
Something in this for everyone.

Almost nothing…seriously, they should just get rid of the 3rd Class. The only real difference is the weight, seat limit, and speed for Basic Med.So, what will be the difference in privileges between BasicMed and a Class 3?
