They Hate to Fly and It Shows

Good job by that crew. They did the right thing. If you are unable to get the proper rest, you shouldn't be flying. Management needs to learn it is less expensive to put the crew into a decent hotel them it is to cancel a flight.

And it is not about hating to fly. It's about safety. The pax should be grateful the crew didn't jeopardize their safety by flying tired.

Passengers on a British Airways flight were delayed overnight when flight crew did not get enough rest and were too sleepy to fly

Tough shit for the pax. Complain to management. Would the passengers have rather have entrusted their lives to a fatigued crew???

It's called .... "Fly safe and fly the contract".

Operational Necessity

Let's see you make fun of crew day when you're on your third boat hop (second night) on an 18 hour fly-day. Same stuff, different context.

and add in a dose of Operational Necessity*

*USN and USMC only...USAF is religious not only about Crew Day, BUT where they stay for their beauty sleep....

Ahh,, Operational Neccessity..

The favorite "gotcha" of HSL LCDRs during HAC boards.

Future HACs, be able to quote it VERBATIM out of OPNAV. It will save you much grief, and its greatest benefit, is some hinge will look like a fool to the other hinges for a while for arguing its something else... While they heckle him, you can refresh your brain.

agreed. after a 12 hour "delay" at DFW, we had to wait another 45 minutes (at 1am) for a flight attendant to come FROM HER HOUSE to make the flight to houston. they told the passengers what was going on, and not a single person complained. props to the pilot for making sure everyone was legal. (even though it was insanely late and we could have driven the distance three times over, the two toddlers behind me didn't cry a single bit. take that, you BA babies!)

...and no sooner than you drag us into helo world, you digress to your exwife...ne c'est pas?

ah... the starter variety that we've been hearing so much about lately. must've been a real humdinger of a time for you, MB.
