Time between College Grad. and leaving for OCS

I was just kind of curious as to if anyone who was in BDCP could give me an idea of how long it might be before I would leave for OCS after I graduate. I saw on here that people who were not in BDCP could choose when they left. I did not know if BDCP people were in the same situation.
Thanks.

I put down on my application when I was available, but keep in mind that the Navy owns you and they can give you less than a week up to months. I had about a month and a half, which helped me focus and train. If you have big issues like moving your stuff home, etc., let your recruiter know so you don't have a too hard of time fighting for a later date. The kind of topic is the reason why you want to make sure and have a good conversation with your recruiter so they can work out issues before they become a serious problem.

Don't wait till the last minute to address the issue otherwise you maybe screwed.

Graduated college 15 Dec, checked in to OCS 7 Jan. There were no classes between my graduation and 7 Jan due to the holiday break. My processor actually wanted to know why I put down the beginning of Jan as the soonest I could attend OCS (it seemed obvious to me!) Like Tom said, you don't really get a choice....just be ready when you're told to go.

I graduated college 28 May. Checked into OCS 6 June after driving from Boston to Flint, back to Boston, then to Pensacola.

I thought by putting the month that you are available for OCS, was the month they would send you. For example; if you graduate in December, then you might put January on your available date, and then sometime in January you ship out. But I am not positive, that could be bad gouge.

Don't confuse yourself with would and will. Sometimes it works out and sometimes you go much earlier to OCS and are completely unprepared. This shows during OCS.

Thanks for answering my question guys. I don't have that big of a conflict, just a matter of if I tell someone I can be in their wedding or not. I asked my recruiter and he didn't really have an answer for me. I assumed like some of you said, that I would leave when I told them I could.
Thanks again.

I graduated the 5th of May, I put down the 10th to be safe. I got orders for 9 June. The only class before 9 June was like 19th of June, and coming from Cali, I don't think they could expect me to get from college to OCS in 9 days, so they gave me the next available class. If you put down a date, stand by to get out there ASAP.

I put down available 1 June. I got 5 June class date; it seems like you get the first or second class after the date you put down. I'd imagine BDCP to be a little less flexible since you are getting the welfare check.

My date was actually pushed from June 1st, to anyday now after graduation , to June 14th. Definately double check with your recruiter to know when exactly you are scheduled to leave.

Yeah, originally my recruiter said that I would be able to sit down with him and look at different dates and pick a date to leave out of like 4, but now he's saying that he doesn't know and won't know till later. Granted Im not leaving for a good half a year, but I was just curious as to if it would be sooner or later after graduation.
But you guys have helped a lot, thanks again.

I'm planned graduation early December 2009 and apparently my OCS class date is January 3, 2010 (so my file said on my recruiters computer).

Okay, that's weird because I have asked my recruiter like 4 times if he knew when I was going to leave, and he keeps telling me it's too early to know. I graduate Dec 2008, so I was assuming I leave early Jan.

That's because it is too early to tell. You should know about 6 months before hand, it is always subject to change. Once you have orders in hand, you'll know for sure. Plan for the worst and hope for the best....

Well yeah I got that, the first time he told me, but I was making reference to how bsubdevils doesn't leave for a year after me and already knows, thought that was weird. Oh well.
