A number of Congressmen are going on record calling for evacuation of military dependents from South Korea and prohibiting any further accompanied tours for DoD.

Too rash?
 
Regardless of ones personal opinions, probably not a prudent discussion here, or anywhere else on the interwebs . . . . .
 
It's also a great way to needlessly escalate tensions. If/when it comes to that - and that's a HUGE fucking if - it's not going to be at the insistence of some hare-brained congressman. That's between PACOM, CJCS and POTUS.
 
My only real desire for my DH tour was not to go to Japan. There were multiple reasons, but part of it was because I didn't want my family in the middle of all that. Not to mention being told things such as when I can and cannot drink while at home.

That said, I think this story is clickbait.
 
Well respectfully, the topic was all over national Sunday morning news shows. So it’s a timely topic.

Congress would also have to come up with the $. If my memory serves me correctly, the families that evacuated Japan in 08 got paid per diem.

That is a lot of cash that DOD has not budgeted and would have to go to Congress for a supplemental.
