Times to apply

I will be reapplying at the end of this semester, probably May or June. Is this a bad time? Because I'm sure many other people are waiting for their end semester grades as well in the same boat as me.. But I was as good a chance as possible, I don't wanna be thrown in the 700 apps...

make sense? so are these usually hard months to get accepted in?(because of volume)

My advice is don't wait...If you want your application in by May or June I would definitely start the process now...you have to keep in mind Murphy's law, there's always a chance you will hit a snag even with a resubmission. As far as the best time to apply I really don't know...I would guess its about the same volume from month to month with the exception of January due to them not having a December board. I'm graduating in May as well and I started the process in October and submited my package in December, got reviewed in January and now have a class date for June 21st. Also if you have a strong package I wouldn't be worried about volume so much. Get on it!! Best of luck.

Also, if you aren't selected, you can re-apply. So it's better to have extra time to work out the kinks of your application. If you start now, you'd be lucky to make it in the May board.

It was my understanding that the way they view the packages has changed. I was informed that they just view a set amount each month, and the rest are pushed into a line. Maybe they did it to avoid the huge slams or huge vacuums. Anyone know for sure?

hmm, ok I will continue on the path to get it ready again for may/june, but there shouldn't be much to change except get a new academic completion, new transcripts, new statement and resubmission statement..
I don't have to re fill out any forms if nothing has changed correct?
again thanks, i'm having trouble getting a hold of my recruiter, that's why I am asking here

APPLY NOW! With the economy in bad shape people look to the military for jobs and job security. That equals MORE COMPETITION.

My recruiter will not let me reapply until July (6months after my 1st board), he said my grades for this semester won't make a significant change on my packet...

but anyway, will applying late in the fiscal year make it harder to get accepted? I know it depends on slots left and money available.. but does it usually seem more difficult?

Applying late in Fiscal Year doesn't equate to money at all because of time it takes, they are likely already into next Fiscal Year by then. Read the threads on how long it takes to get in front of a board, receive Pro-Rec and get everyrhing submitted and for them to give you a Final Select and then a class date. That can easily take upwards of a year and everyone's mileage may vary. You are overthinking your situation.

ok, well I am just regurgitating the info my OR is giving me..
he also says I can't apply for NFO AMDO SWO (my 3 choices) until i've graduated, only apply for BDCP.
Is this true? I was previously told by another recruiter (months ago) that I can apply for OCS while still in school...

I am so confused now..

I believe they tried this for a few months and then discarded it. There's a thread around here somewhere about it, with a lot of chicken little in it.

You cannot go to OCS without your degree. Applying BDCP is basically an OCS application, only your OCS experience gets to wait until you get your degree.

Edit: While you cannot go to OCS without a degree, you can apply. However, you must be close to graduation.

Best of luck to you mate. I'm applying for OCS before i've got my degree (I graduate in 46 days). The deal is that IF they pro-rec me before I get the degree, they'll cut you a final select and orders once you have a diploma in hand.

My recruiter is set on his ways, and will not listen to this.. saying I MUST have my degree before I apply to OCS..
i've tried to politely as him and he will not look into it..

what should i do?
