I took Version 1 today down here is Pensacola, FL. Corry Station to be exact. I felt like I did pretty good. I was told to call a number on Monday and get my score! Pretty fast!

I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this website! I am glad I found it before I took the test! I will post my score as soon as I get it!

I also just took the ASTB test this morning, 8/5/04. I felt I did good. A lil pressed for time on each of the sections, and confused on some questions since it seems that the books had never been edited due to the fact that information was missing on some questions. Mechanical was a little tougher than the gouge will lead you to believe. Also the SA section was like a horrible xerox machine, quite bad. I will also post scores once I get them. Good luck to any that are trying to get SNA or NFO. Any questions feel free to ask.

I live in Cypress. I am going to Cal State Long Beach and applying for SNA Marines. I cant wait to get my scores back, I really want to have my package complete to go in front of the Sept. board, my OSO tells me if I pass the ASTB and get all my app done then Im in a good position. So you think you got good scores?

There isn't a september board. There is an August board for 187 in October and a November board for 188 in January.

Hey guys- congrats on doing well on the ASTB. For those of us who are about to take the ASTB, is the gouge on this site still legit to study from? From the old forms to the new form. From what is going around the forum, math and verbal is the same, mechanical is more difficult, and aviation/nautical is a *****, and SA is easier.

E6... Im not applying for OCC. Im in PLC. And that is what he told me.

I had no idea about the gouge until about 3 days before the test. I was busy studying a bunch of books that I found on the ASTB. Like the ARCO book, CLIFFSTestPrep, etc. These books were a lot harder than the actual test, but I guess it is always good to study more and then the test is easier.

I thought the gouge was a good idea of what to look at, study an old algebra book, Im in CALC 4 and my algebra sucked. The reading is common sense, read a passage, etc.

The mechanical section presses you for time and you should know just about all the basic principles of physics. EX: moments, pressure, electric circuits, mechanical advantage, etc. Some require computations others are just trivial questions.

The SA section was not bad, my OSO told me this is the big section to get SNA slot. Study it like no tomorrow. The pictures are similar to the ARCO book, just the ASTB ones are like bad xerox copies.

Aviation/Nautical section I thought was pretty easy although I am taking pilot lessons so you learn a lot from that. But if you have no knowledge of boats and planes, study up on their parts and functions. Any other questions feel free to ask.
