Yeah, it was fun. I think I may have met you briefly, but I was putting the Drunk in "Traveling Around Drunk". I was told I briefly met Catmando as well, but Friday night is mostly a blur.
Had a drink with Catmando as well... Had a great time at Hook. Bio... did we meet? I was the large black guy in a green bag (or Wizards jersey/t-shrit... and dressed like a lime on Thurs)
And of note, MB looks more like Carville than Brett. And I think I'll have to order a copy of Bio's book. Always up for a good read.
Bubba - Umm, we may have met. I'm embarrassed that I met so many folks and didn't commit them to memory. It was great sitting at that table all day and chatting with people who came by. - Bio
And once airborne it was set condition 1, sit back read a mag. Watch weapons drop outta bomb bay. Sit back down, turn on final. Listen to pilot screw up callsign and ID us as "United flight..." instead of Navy lima xray...Land and have to hear over my headset, "AO3, don't forget the honey pot." Ugh...
In my day, the flying AOs took great pride in their ability to cook great meals for the crew using only the convection oven and a crockpot. Good cooks...err...aahhh...I mean AOs....were keepers.
just finished reading your book as well. Great photos, detailed descriptions of everything and an insider's view of the making of the movie made for a very enjoyable read!
Just a short note to say I'll be in San Francisco on Friday, October 8, to sign copies of my book TOPGUN DAYS. If you're in town for Fleet Week maybe you can stop by, or forward this to a friend who may be interested. Location: Alexander Book Company, 50 Second St. (Between Market & Mission), San Francisco, CA 94105. Their number is 415-495-2992 and website is http://alexanderbook.com/. I'll be there 12:30 to 1:30 PM. For those not familiar with my book, the subtitle is: Dogfighting, Cheating Death, and Hollywood Glory as One of America's Best Fighter Jocks, which gives a good idea of the content. The book is 320 pages and includes 59 color photos of aircraft and people, and the printer did a very nice job with the photo quality. An overview of the book and example photos are shown on my website, www.topgunbio.com.
For Tomcat fans and folks who just like to see raw power, I posted some of my photos of F-14s in full blower, along with a short article about taking the shots, on Airfighters.com. Here's the link: http://www.airfighters.com/page.php?id=104
TOPGUN DAYS is the all-true, action-filled story that puts readers in the cockpit of the mighty F-14 Tomcat fighter, surviving a life-or-death ejection during a carrier-landing mishap, and then joining the ranks of Topgun as an instructor.
Full of adventure, the book has themes of camaraderie and perseverance, and provides a behind-the-scenes look at making the blockbuster hit, "Top Gun."
TOPGUN DAYS is also available for Kindle <http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003UTU59E>, and of course as a hardcover book < http://amzn.com/1616080051 >.
