First named storm of the year. Thankfully, this one's forecasted to remain a tropical storm, but looks like it might make landfall around Mobile/Pensacola this weekend.

Still gonna feel it here. WE're not "inland" when it comes to tropical storms/hurricanes :)

CNN was showing coverage of Arlene today from of all places P-Beach. Thought to meself . . . didn't they just get done putting that place back together? Hopefully this won't set things back for the airshow next month.

Don't worry, I'm sure Nittany was speaking in relative terms. Before he went to pointy-nose jet land, he did his time at Whiting. What'd you have?...about four flights with Big Mike before the Hurricane?
All that time in the lap of luxury has made him forget the reality of Pensacola.

In the event we lose power, when/where is the party? I have faith that the good folks at the Whiting Pines Mini-Mart will keep the beer cold for us...

supposedly the mini mart will be closed tomorrow. i rode out Hurricane Ivan and it was closed for quite a while. and according to the CO of the base, the most popular item during Ivan was beer. and I am not surprised. i've got my 24 pack...i hope it lasts.

I was over there at about 7 picking up my hurricane supplies. 32 Buds Light, couple liters of water, and a candle. Should get me through the night. I'm in Whiting Pines with cold beer if anyone needs some liquid refreshment to get them through the storm.

I left 4 days before Ivan, my old apartment is GONE, and it looks like I returned just in time for some more "fun." I'll be the drunk idiot outside living it up as much as possible (I'm not from the south, and I like storms, so far).
