Haha because my friend at the Academy didn't tell me it applied to everyone and he was making fun of me for being USNR, while he commissions USN, so now I can laugh back at him :-P

Yea... its been USNR for both ROTC and Academy... they aren't freakin special

What difference does it make when you're first commissioned wheteher you're USN or USNR?

Like I said. Nobody in the fleet puts the R on their nametags.

I believe the benefit of being USN and not USNR is that you have more job security. As a reserve, if they dont need you, they tell you thanks and you are on your way to find another job. Being USN makes it harder to do that. Also, EVERYONE was commissioned USNR before this (Academy, OCS, NROTC...) Also, if you notice the print it says "... by May 2006" meaning that you could be changed over before then, just may is the latest it would take.

I don't think so....

What Naval Aviator on Active Duty would put 'USNR' on their nametags?

Not sure about that, but all SNAs are required to have USNR on there.

But then again, we're not Naval Aviators yet.

USNR on a name tag, I have yet to see anyone with rank on their name tag, let alone USNR or USN. Maybe that is just a LAMPS thing though

That's pretty much the standard. Wings, name and callsign.

Good times,

Speaking of nametags (and this might be worth making into its own thread) How about some good "cross country" nametag names. do you guys have these in your squadrons? We had about a half dozen in the readyroom safe. I'll start:

- Heywood Jablome

- Oliver Klozoff

Good times,

Yeah, once I get my nametag for here, it's just the office crest and my name.
