I'm with you there. When a thread keeps popping up, it's usually worth looking at, unless it's entirely comprised of an acronym salad that I have zero experience with.

Sometimes I'll click just bc I'm curious if Skeeterman has reemerged, or if there's a poster who has habitually done meth and shrooms as a lad (experimentally of course) during their 6 yrs of college, is asking if they can get a waiver. ?

Broadly speaking, yes. I was being a bit facetious in comparing the Mark 1, Mod 0, USN/USMC Helicopter Pilot/Aircrewman with the pilots and aircrew from the 160th SOAR.

The recent deployment of the Ike CSG to the Red Sea has sparked my curiosity about a specific topic. How is a CSG protected when transiting the Suez Canal? Such a movement presents some serious challenges. I presume escort ships are not allowed to transit the canal with radars/defensive systems active nor a flight ops permissible. Are USAF assets routed to assist? Does Egypt provide it's own security? What happens if we are actively in a shooting war? Thanks in advance!

I'll bite just for a thought experiment. If you were in charge, what would you require to keep a CSG safe during a canal or straights transit? Would you make any compromises?

I would follow proper doctrine and tactics as currently published and then not post about it on the internet.

The discussion ends at, "We don't fuck around when it comes to making sure the CSG is safe in a vulnerable situation."

That was the goal of the post.
