Just saw the movie... really good with fairly high fidelity to the book. Can't think of any meaningful critiques. Definitely see it, whether you've read the book or not. Also had trailers for a Mandalorian film and Dune 3... both of which look amazing.
It was ok, I wish they would have made the movie into a series, so all the technical aspects could have been included.

I saw it on Monday as an early release deal for Amazon Prime members. The trailers were all Amazon Studios films- the stand out trailer was for the Masters of the Universe- He Man movie.

But I really enjoyed Project Hail Mary. I'm going to see it again next weekend with some other friends. I think they did an excellent job of keeping the important stuff, while not getting bogged down into a lot of the (albeit really good) side stories and science. Very little was changed from the book, and what was changed was minor details (Eva Stratt being German instead of Dutch) or stuff that could simply just be left aside (turning the Saraha into an astrophage breeding ground).

I love that we're returning to expansive models, costumes, sets, and puppetry; and that we are getting away from CGI as much as possible. IMO it is what makes SciFi movies stay relevant and watchable as they age.

Meh. That's what makes the book great, and gives the movie a much broader appeal.

Andy Weir has stated in a few interviews that he has material for a sequel if the opportunity (read: money) his desires (read: wants more money) and the right people (probably this creative crew and cast) align.
