The oatmeal cookies are pretty good.
The food isn't bad, shore or ship. The CS's do the best they can with what supply gives them. As an old Chief told me long ago, "It'll make a turd."
Huh? You've got to be kiddin' me! But you're excused 'cause my boat time was in the 60's.I just heard a Chief say that yesterday and it was the first time I've ever heard that phrase uttered. Then I read this.
Neat.
You know your food is crappy...errr..shitty..You know it sucks when it doesn't make a turd. The food isn't bad, shore or ship. The CS's do the best they can with what supply gives them. As an old Chief told me long ago, "It'll make a turd."
I just flew with a crusty former A-7 driver (USN)...I think he said that at least 17 times during our 3 day rotation...good times!...As an old Chief told me long ago, "It'll make a turd."
Lots of peanut butter?Somewhat related: with the seeming "explosion" of specific diets and allergies over the last twenty or so years, does anyone know how vegans, vegetarians, or gluten free eaters get by onboard ship? Fresh veggies seem to be aplenty a few days out of port, but after that....Seems like it would be difficult to pull off.
But the real question is: if one Sailor has a peanut allergy, does the entire ship need to be nut-free? Asking for every school-kid every where.Lots of peanut butter?
I think a peanut allergy is disqualifying. One of the Handlers I worked with had a minor peanut allergy that he kept secret from medical out of fear of getting a down chit. But the real question is: if one Sailor has a peanut allergy, does the entire ship need to be nut-free? Asking for every school-kid every where.
Who cares... Never trust anyone that doesn't eat meat!Somewhat related: with the seeming "explosion" of specific diets and allergies over the last twenty or so years, does anyone know how vegans, vegetarians, or gluten free eaters get by onboard ship? I am not sure about now but before if a person had a gluten issue they were not cleared for sea duty. If they choose to be gluten free well good luck.
