What High School Electives/USNA?

Timing is everything. We had about 400 slots when I graduated. The 93 and 94 guys had 125 each. The future of fighters is not in fighters, its UAV's. Why risk a pilot? Look at the Clinton attacks, launching cruise missiles. The person in the plane is the weak link. You can take him and all the support equipment out. You can add more fuel or weapons and pull more g's. Less risk, increased capabilities, easy decision for funding. The AF is buying a lot less F-22's than F-15's and a lot less F-35's than F-16's (if they get bought at all). Going back the High School kid....What is military aviation going to look like in 8 years? Does anybody know about launching UAV's off ships?

What does "tactical" mean? And the pilot communities are not over manned.

If you are really a former USAF pilot and are seriously asking what's tactical then you don't have much education. The alternative is you are not who you say you are.

I know what it means. Missions are tactical, aircraft are not. Any aircraft can have a tactical mission. UH-1's take missile crews to silo's and Marines to take a hill. I was curious to his definition.

You mean this MC-12? That would be awesome. I think you mean PC-12s.

Someday

Dude?
"(I) have a job at Subway"

This is good experience. Of the fast food chains, subway is the most naval. I mean, I haven't been on a Navy base that hasn't had at least one subway. Some bases even have multiple subway restaurants.

Also, working with submarine sandwiches is a good leg up in politics. Jimmy Carter worked with subs, too.

Seriously, reality check: what school you attend is nearly irrelevant for your future ambitions. Yes, it helps having that Harvard law degree, but Barak Obama got elected because he was smart. John McCain got nominated not because he was a naval aviator, but because he was a man of exceptional character. So be smart, have exceptional character and pick a school and service that fits your personality.

I stand corrected, MC-12 it is. The PC-12 is the AFSOC thing. Interesting that ACC is running with this. That has to scare the crap out of all those A-10 and F-16 pilots. The second article mention the USMC Angel Fire program. What is that?

The Air Force's version of the PC-12 is the U-28A and its supposedly pretty badass.

I heard they were having serious weight restriction problems in Iraq. One guy told me they actually took the door off to save weight. Typical, buy perfectly good AC and hang so much stuff on it that you kill the original purpose (loiter time).

Two more posts after a mod asks you about a previously banned user - and not answering his question in either post.

As user that has remarkably similar location, bio, etc... And oh by the way - that tripped our automated "trying to sneak in the back door system."

Come back in a week.
