What NRC considers competitive

Hey guys, I'm graduating in about a month and talked with a recruiter who said I would be competitive for Intel Officer, but he's only been doing this for about 6 months and from my research it seems incredibly difficult to get in. So, I just want to make sure I wouldn't be wasting my time.

Degree: Computer Science major, Mathematics minor (3.42 GPA, will change a tad). State school.
OAR: 69
Notable Jobs: Multiple summer internships with tech companies. Been working at a computer lab ~1 year while schooling, likely promoted to supervisor when once I apply (according to manager). Taught Calculus 2 and led help sessions for a semester.
References: Can get at least 1 army veteran friend and 1 army veteran supervisor to vouch for me, probably other prior employers as well.
Notes: A couple CS projects though nothing crazy, was in the honors program for two years.

My concern is my GPA, it's definitely on the low side.
The truth is, I didn't turn in much of my work and even missed exams because I'm not self-motivated. Learning self-motivation is actually a major reason I want to join. My work ethic is excellent otherwise, my past employers/references will vouch.
I also worked during some of university so maybe that can help excuse my GPA as well.

Let me know what you think.

Your GPA isn't bad, it is a little below the average but not by much. IWC is always competitive so there are good applicants that get a "No" all the time so the best way to see is just to try.

If you want to do this you should be self-motivated already.

Hello! I am currently an E-5, and have started the process of applying for Supply Officer. I have been told I am competitive, but would like some feed back first.

GPA: 3.86 (Information Systems Management)
OAR: 58
Collaterals: Treasurer of Navy Morale Committee / ACFL
Last 3 PRTs: Excellent Medium / Excellent Low / Excellent Medium
Waivers: None
Awards: NAM (Transfer)

Evals for Last 3 years:
- MP (Above RSCA, good write up)
- EP (Transfer)
- P (Welcome Aboard, meh writeup)
- MP (Above RSCA, good write up) (Most Recent)

I have not started on officer interviews or LORs, but intend to start soon

I have been told by several people that my GPA/ OAR/ Collaterals make me very competitive for supply, but I have a few concerns.

1. the degree is from an online university. I was told that online schools are just as valid for this process, but I wasn't sure.
2. I am also a little concerned that maybe my Evals could be better. I've only received one EP, and it was a transfer.
3. Additionally I see a lot of applicants have many awards, while I only have a transfer NAM.

Go for it I would be hopeful you would be selected.

Just because you do not have All eps doesn’t mean you’re not a good Sailor.as long as your evals shows progression that’s good. Same if you were going up for chief. Your appraisals, and who it’s from play a big factor, COs endorsement etc. they have to look at your ENTIRE package, trust me I had the same conversation with myself about my evals. P, mp, p. However looking at , my package as a whole shows that I was recently mapped to first class running a recruiting station as an e5 with two of my appraisals being captains, and 1 commander. I spent more time on my personal statement than me worried about if I have enough nams and awards to make myself look good.. trust the process m you will be fine, I’m currently awaiting on two board results my supply, supply as my first choice, and SWO as my 2nd

Very true I worked with a sailor who mainly had MP's and he picked up SWO, I had an applicant who was a reservist that had 4 years active that had P's for years that picked up Supply, and that was before they put a cap on applications or should I say before they enforced it.

There's some common sense with EVALs and FITREPs. It's not expected that you'll receive an EP right away, whether you advanced/frocked or checked in to a new command. As long as you're progressing and there's no adverse changes (for example: Going from an EP to an MP or P without any change, OR going to an SP), it's fine...

I mean that looks pretty competitive from my end. I’m not a board member but from prospective that looks very competitive. Phd student at that. I wouldn’t worry about how competitive you are if those are your stats
