What study materials did you use?

For the Navy OCS test?
I just contacted the recruiter and he sent me a packet that included ideas of what to study. What did you find the most helpful to get a decent score on the test?
How far out did you study?

Thanks!

To my knowledge (which is limited) I have not heard of a OCS test. Although I am positive there will be testing when you go. Are you speaking of the ASTB? ASVAB? If so you may want to do a site search and type in "ASTB" or "ASVAB". You can PM, I have acquired some good gouge.

For the ASTB the Barrron's and Arco books are the best...they are just basic study guides for the military flight aptitude tests but they help a lot...and there is a ton of gouge here that is a big help as well. Good Luck.

just get your hands on as much as you can and do it all... a couple times... till you not only know the answers but know how to calculate or logic your way to the right answer as well.

everyone talks about speed but the speed will come as you get more familiar with the problems; you'll naturally get quicker as you do them. i think its better to learn how to do the problems first rather than starting to time yourself and fret about rushing from the getgo.

just a heads up - the spatial appreciation stuff on the actual astb was a lot different than anything i practiced in the books or the handouts... obviously do the practice stuff until you know it cold but know that on the actual test the angles will be more extreme and you can't dismiss potential answers as readily as you can in the practice stuff.

good luck champ. this website is gold... read everything.

I didn't really study much, just looked over material as I was driving from work to my OR's office. (And yes, I was reading and driving, which is really dumb, but I literally had no time to go over any of it beforehand and wanted at least a little familiarity with the material). The hardest part for me was Spatial Apperception and Nautical info. The gouge on this website is really good for that.
