Whats a typical day at OCS like?

I'm just plain old curious as to what a typical 'work day' is like at OCS. Are the days pretty fast paced? Are you afforded any 'luxury time' to do what you please? I really don't know what a day is like and any input is appreciated.

Cheers,

Josh

Thanks for the link, answered everything. I do believe I will be in for quite a shock if I make it there.

thanks again,

Josh

it can all be summed up as:
wake up
push
eat breakfast
push
eat lunch
push
eat dinner
push
go to bed
dream about pushing
repeat

Don't forget "trying not to fall asleep for the third time this class" ... or have things changed enough where the classes are interesting?

Nope. I can't remember how many times I heard someone say, "If you start falling asleep, stand up in the back of the room." At least they know that the classes are boring and hard to stay awake in.

You will learn to fall asleep while standing up. If you are really good, you will learn to sleep while you're walking, too. OCS taught me to be a professional at both.

You'll fall asleep, or someone in your class will. No worries, nothing a little RPT can't cure. Nothing like a little 'Kill Bush' time before chow.

This is an awesome link...I attended Marine MIDN Indoc at MCRD San Diego in 2002 and USN OCS (I switched programs for Intel) sounds like it'll be the same thing, only more exhaustive since it lasts 5 times as long. I'm reporting to PNAS on 25MAR05 and reading your post got a lot of things flowing again (e.g., adrenaline, motivation, fear). Much appreciated!

I think the Push should before the meals since that was when the DIs had time to mess with you while you were waiting to get into the chow hall.

There were several classes when we had only three or four people still in their chairs while everyone else was standing in the back. One guy fell asleep while standing and knocked over a chair that was on top of one of the tables.

Can you purchase that documentary the discovery channel did? I was there when 'the rock' was the most feared gunny, anybody else ever have the pleasure?

Oh yes, I remember the Rock well. He looked like a shaved ape, with a temperament to match. He was hella cool as a candi-o. once bought us (as mere candidates) a round at a strip club….that was one WEIRD experience....

A Capt in my Sqdn had "Sgt Rock" as his DI in San Diego back in 96. Small world.
