Whats a typical day at OCS like?

Yeah, um, so what in the &^%$ is "Black Saturday?" Doesn't sound good, really, although it does sound like a bad disease in England a while back. Is that just a coincidence?

Its no big deal, just pretty much a meet and greet. Not too sure how they got the name.

Yeah, it's a good time. Coffee and doughnuts.

Coffee and doughnuts. Man, that's a relief! I guess it's just the new pu**yfied OCS everyone's been lamenting.

On another note, can anyone tell me about Black Sunday?

GrySgt Hard Core, United States Marine Corps will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding that day. Please make sure to ask politely.

I think OCS has gotten tougher. On my black saturday we had Eggs Benedict, fresh fruit and coffee. Now all they're feeding candidates is coffee and doughnuts? man, i don't think i could take it.

I've been hearing alot of scuttlebutt about this I have heard that they are just standard-issue glazed Krispy Cremes... but to show that we are developing into the new Navy they are considering adding sprinkles to boot with Starbucks coffee.. Can anyone thats been in recently confirm this?

That's what I heard, too, from a recently-commissioned Ensign in the NUPOC program. He said "Team Sports" Saturdays are more like "Non-traditional calisthenics" Saturdays. Not so much things like baseball, soccer, etc etc etc, but things such as carrying other candidates around the field on your back, or doing a bear crawl (all fours, crawling) with another candidate hanging from your torso...sounds messed up, and I have no confirmation of this, but strange nonetheless.

Anyone remember the Saturday morning "hangover" runs? Especially the looooooong ones to places such as the middle of no where on those dirt roads behind the golf course? Supposedly thats been replaced with "team sports" Saturdays. What kind of crap is that?

The team sports were awesome. Say what you will, but it really did build teamwork and comradery. We did play soccer and basketball and ultimate frisbey against other classes. The losing class takes home the "butt kick award", a rifle stock with those words engraved on the butt. Then the class was forced to take it with them everywhere they went. They had to ceremoniously place it at the end of the table every time they went to the galley so that everyone that walked by could see they got their butt whooped that week. A real embarassment for the DI so you all know what that meant. I loved them.

That team sports day sounds kinda cool. but i did begin to enjoy? (if that's the right word) those long saturday runs. really helped with the hangovers. I puked several times and the DI's thought it was funny, so long as you got back in formation.

Man, you guys are bringing back some serious OCS memories. I can't believe they switched over to Saturday sports instead of keeping with the original PT. I guess H-class was building up a little too much. Anyone else get screwed by hurricane Ivan while they were there?

Hmmm...so from the sound of it, if I made it through MCRD as a Marine Recruit (way back in 2000, lol), then I'm pretty much gonna be heading back into the same thing? Sadly.....I'm a little excited at the idea. I loved boot camp. Still hoping to get selected and head out after college/BDCP (once again providing I get selected).
