Over $75K for a jeep? Wow!

If I were to get back into the off-road game I'd rather just get an old Dodge M37B and upgrade the guts with a new engine, transmission and such, slap on a nice paint job, and still be able to go almost anywhere with about $60K in my pocket for beer money!

The Dodge Power Wagon is a good looking truck, whether the 1950’s or from Simon & Simon in the early ‘80’s.

Oh yeah! Those early Power Wagons are beastly. My brother had a 1980s Power Wagon almost identical to the above. I was jealous until the motor gave up the ghost.

I think we were talking past each other. I didn't see the "base" Rubicon on the Jeep site. There is a "Rubicon 392" which has a 392 Hemi as standard. There is also a "Rubicon" which gives you 4 engine options, but didn't see the Hemi listed because, I assume, they already have the Rubicon 392 option. The base Rubicon does have a turbo diesel option, that would be so nice with 442 lb-ft of torque! That option priced out to $62K, still too rich for a Jeep.

I don’t think we’re talking past each other. You presented an example of a Jeep that cost 80K, without mentioning that the price included a 20K option for an exotic motor, then declared that Jeeps are too expensive. I simply clarified by asking a question i already knew the answer to. ?

I love the old Broncos and International Scouts! If I didn’t already have a 4x4 Tacoma, my toy might be one of those instead of my Mustang. I had a ‘79 CJ-7 years ago and that thing was a blast. The three speed was a bit rough when driving on highways through the mountains though.

I go to the Barret Jackson in Scottsdale every year. Wasn't too long ago you could get a first gen Bronco in good reliable everyday driving condition for less than 10K. Always wanted one. Just didn't have anyplace to put it. Now I can't afford one. Always liked the IH Scout too. My brother had one of them.

Hard pressed to find one of these for les than $25K now. Most are more than $30K. Some way more.

Not the biggest fan of Dodge but any mention of Simon & Simon is good in my book, still one of the best theme songs of any TV show.

I had a 65 in that same color. Purchased in 1983 for 1800 bucks, and was a great first car. It was a 6 cylinder with 0 options, I wish I still had it. Traded it in on a 1987 Ford Escort, which had a/c, power steering and a defroster that actually defrosted.

As it turned out, it was a mistake....
