Which watch?

None
I'll be honest. The more I look at it, the less I like it. I think the concept is cool, but the watch itself is just kinda...meh...Especially since they decided to sell it to the general public (with a normal Speedmaster caseback instead of the customized wings). I think there are much better looking Speedmasters out there for that kind of coin.

In fairness, I think that the X33 is kind of a goofy looking watch, too, and that digital display is not aging well, but that one was at least exclusively available to military pilots.
The TPS group buy had wings on the caseback. I really liked instrument inspired color scheme of the watch face. But wasn't quite different enough from my 3861 though to warrant getting another one.

The X-33 could be purchased by the public for a little while. They just wouldn't have the caseback engraving. Also, the engravings aren't necessarily wings, but whatever the group buy decided. Ours is our squadron logo. The Airwarriors Gen 3 versions (I think...maybe Gen 2) were wings because it was a common denominator. I'm not sure what the NASA version has, but I'm guessing @Citation3 can answer that.

I agree, there are definitely more handsome faces than the X-33, but the watch is so rare that when someone recognizes it, it's kind of like a brief secret club meeting.

Yeah. I’m aware. I thought you said you didn’t like it because it didn’t come with wings on it. I guess I just don’t have a problem with a watch that’s publicly available. 🤷‍♂️
It's not that it's available to the public that bugs me. I think that's indicative of a bigger problem. If all I wanted was a watch with a customized caseback, there are lots of companies willing to do that - without having to talk a bunch of friends into also buying one. My complaint is that this isn't a special pilots' watch like its predecessors. See below.

That's what I mean. The X-33 isn't the best looking watch out there, but like you said, those who know what it is will recognize it as something special. It was built from the ground up as a pilot's watch, and it's unmistakable. That was a follow up to the original 1960s' Flight Master, which also had several pilot-specific complications - GMT hand, 24-hour, etc.

This time, instead of building another special aviation watch they just reskinned a Racing Master and called it a day. I think that it's trying to pay homage to that original Flight Master, which is why they added orange and colored in half of the 9 o'clock complication -which makes a lot more sense for the 24-hour dial of the original - but that's it. They literally added nothing else. What kind of pilot's watch doesn't even have a GMT complication?

Here's the 1960s' Flightmaster.
