I don't have the sapphire crystal on my Speedy...I have the much softer and more easily scratchable hesalite crystal. You're right...the crystal [both sapphire and hesalite] regarding the Speedy are very domed and "out there". Like HAL said, the sapphire is very scratch resistant. But it's also more brittle and a sharp blow could shatter it.Idiot question in coming.. on the speedy pro, how often do you nick up the front sapphire? I saw a picture of one from the side and never realized just how far out the crystal sticks out from the case.

Toothpaste?The Hesalite crystal, basically plexiglass, is easy to polish and remove most scratches - any mildly abrasive plastic polish will suffice (similar to what you polish car headlights or a motorcycle windscreen).
I've tried toothpaste - has abrasive but doesn't polish or leave a wax type layer behind.Toothpaste?
