Who Is Going To NSI In Feb?

I am not leaving until Saturday afternoon. It's only 16 hours from SC, so I will make it by Sunday afternoon. It isn't supposed to rain or snow so I should be good. I imagine Newport will be a lot like Portsmouth or Groton, it isn't really that cold (25) but the wind comes from whatever direction you are facing at the moment, I don't know how that works, but it is about as unpleasant a thing as I can imagine.

I drove up to Groton yesterday. The drive wasn't bad. The roads were surprisingly good. All we ran into was rain. The drive from VA to CT was a little longer than I remember. I am just hitting up the casinos until Saturday when I take the wife to the airport. I am still trying to decide if I want to check in on Saturday or Sunday. I just need to find a place to crash on Saturday if I do wait till Sunday. For all those going to Charleston after NSI there will be a F-22 air show at the AFB on April 24.
I might have to stick around for that. I like planes infinitely better than submarines. Planes don't make your clothes smell like poo/smoke/oil/amine/B.O./and whatever the smell HPACs make is FOR THE REST OF TIME

I assume everyone is driving their way up to Newport by now eh?:)

Leaving Saturday morning from VA, hopefully the weather will improve and the roads will be clear. There was actually a dusting of snow on the ground in Norfolk this morning and some patches of ice.

It normally takes around 9 hours from just south of Richmond for me to get to Groton, but it took 12 hours the other day. It was because of weather, so just be prepared for it to take longer.

Stashed...again.
Ok, Stupid question that I think was already posed (I'm not going back through all 17 pages to find it...
I know the NSI website says you can check in in civvies, however, has any of you EVER checked into a command in civvies (aside from Boot Camp?)
I'm playing it safe and wearing dress blues, just to be safe.

I'm leaving at the butt-crack to head up tomorrow. I hail from NH, so I'll be there until Sunday. See you all Sunday!

It also say to check in working blues, so I don't know. I am failing safe too but with working blues. BOCOD I have been watching the weather channel like it is the most interesting thing ever and it looks good. I will just orse it if the weather sucks. Thanks for the heads up though

The weather is good now so it is a great time to leave. Kind of like Charleston, the weather can change very quickly up here. I am reporting in my service khakis. I know the rule is you traditionally report in SDB but I dont know where that is written.

I am not going to do 379 elearning courses in the next 12 hours. I guess that is what we will be doing Monday.

I would like to say something ... All of us have have made huge accomplishments by being selected to this great program ... now we need to work as a team and look out for one another, no matter how different we might be. One of our goals should be ZERO disenrollments during the next nine weeks. Just imagine how would you feel being disenrolled ... well, let's not let anyone have that feeling, no matter what shortages others might have. I have seen some poor officers during my years in the Navy, I am convinced that all selectees can be and will be better (STA-21 filtering process is way too great.) So if you see/hear someone is in trouble or close to it, don't wait to act. I know I won't.

I just tried, even though I said I wouldn't, to do the training, and it won't let me do anything because of the security certificate. So hopefully this doesn't make me break erelislt's goal because I didn't have my elearning done that I find out about 8 minutes ago. I do agree with him though, watching people failout is antifun.

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!

That is a worthy goal, but probably a bit unrealistic. There will be one or two individuals that will continue to fvck up no matter how much leniency is given, or how much they are set up to succeed.
