Will I get attrited from NIFE?

one of my IPs in Milton was a prior enlisted aircrew on P-3s, got picked up for SNA, selected/flew P-8s, and is still a primary instructor. dude has been in the navy over 20 years and has never once set foot on the boat

in other words, it's possible lol
I was quoting (well, paraphrasing) A Few Good Men. But yes!

I genuinely don't understand the motivation to achieve this. It's even more cringe that it's thought of as a flex. Yeah, being on a boat for 69% of your career (very very unusual and unlikely) would suck and is something to avoid. To never step foot on a boat ever, well....

More like luck and timing in many cases. I did 24 years active (10) and reserve and spent a grand total of 5 days at sea, wasn't my choice to get stuck in a land-based Prowler squadron my second tour. The SWO's in my last command (to include the Brits) were horrified when I mentioned that. Screw 'em, I had more deployed time than all but a few of them.

Now when I see a Command Master Chief without a single Sea Service, Overseas, campaign or expeditionary ribbon/medal with over 18 years of service? That's one I have questions about.
