William Anders Crash

Sad news about retired Maj. Gen. William “Bill” Anders, a former Apollo 8 astronaut.

For the single anchor crowd, are there any medical/physical requirements that would prevent someone flying at his age? Understand his background, and KSE's, but he seems a bit "long in the tooth" to be pressing the limits of a T-3C over Jones Island . . .

I’m curious what was actually going on. Just saw the video which started at the top of a loop, or where he split-S’d.

He was flying his personally owned T-34A (Continental piston engine) Also he was flying under FAA Basic Med - common for for older GA pilots since it avoids the FAA Medical Certification process

As posted on other threads, unofficial reports indicate this was a deliberate act.

I guess if your 90 and a former astronaut, go for it?

Seems like not a great idea though...to be doing loops and shit single-piloted at that age.

Was told by a friend that new Bill that he did not like to do aerobatics in his T34 and he doubts it was intentional or caused by something like a maneuver. Speculation is a medical issue. Take that for what it's worth.

Didn't like to? A lot of people seem to think that was his thing.
