Well ladies and gents… I retook the ASTB this morning and pulled off a 7,9,8! My previous test was 1 years ago where I scored 7,7,6.

I decided last month I was going to retake it and try for the immediate selection since there’s been so much uncertainty about the board schedule. I spent about 4-5 hours a day for a month to study up again to retake

Hoping to see you guys at OCS!

Is there any rule about retaking ASTB after submitting package while waiting for board results. I’m submitting with a 6,7,7 and want to retake in May or June before I deploy to try and get Immediate select. Just curious if I do worse will that nullify my package?

well if you do worse that will be your new score. Even if you do better...your current score will stick with you to the board. You submitted your current score as part of your package and will have that score submitted unless you submit a whole different package.

Yea this was my second try! I focused heavily on the google drives linked extensively on this site. Both Kyle and Gomez drives were great. I had the ASTB prep app that helped a ton too. Honestly I think I bombed the math section but apparently I did well enough on the other to still squeak out a 7 in the AQR

I completely understand that if I do better it’s not going to help me out with a package I already submitted. I was just curious if getting new scores before results come out could stop me from getting selected since the scores in my package would technically no longer be my most up to date scores.

Yes, you cannot take another test while waiting for board results, taking it again could invalidate any board results for you. Years ago it was emphasized to not let a candidate take an exam while waiting on results, it was said this was due to a candidate doing just that and had his "Y" turned to a "N" due to the new score not being what the board evaluated even though it was still a qualifying score.

Thank you, that's exactly what I figured but wanted to verify.

Does at board info get released when submissions close or when board officially starts? Also if your "submitted" and its determined you need a waiver can that get tacked on and your submission holds your place in board?

At board list usually comes out a week or so before the board meets. Active duty guys usually will offer to check for your name or your recruiter will obviously know.

You usually won’t be able to submit if you’re waiting on a waiver, also they won’t allow you to submit if they find you need a waiver for something. Your package has to be “complete” 100% for submission.
