15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

speaking about meps, anyone who got a waiver for something small, how long does it take to hear becak about an appeal to that med dq? I went to meps last tuesday and im just wondering.

This is interesting, because now I wonder if having a medical waiver that’s been approved can knock you out of ISEL and then rolled to board.
Im pretty sure the PA for ISEL specifically states "3.0+ GPA, 7/7/7/, no non-medical waivers.

So if you have a medical waiver, you are still in the bounds of ISEL.
Correct. I was selected with ISEL and I have a medical waiver.

I don't remember exactly, but I think it took 1-2 weeks to hear back on mine. Not sure if thats the case all the time though.

Mine took about 2 and a half weeks. It was a medical DQ for something that I didn’t actually have. Long story short a doctor pre-diagnosed me before getting tests nor informing me of the diagnosis. Since I never got the tests he didn’t change the file and I found out about it the day of MEPS and thought I was screwed. Got the waiver yesterday and feel very relieved. Rest assured, the doctors who have the final say at N33 have seen it ALL, and you will most likely be alright.

Similar story here. Somehow my uncorrected and corrected vision in one of my eyes were the same (which makes no sense in the first place) so I had to get my own eye test. Got the readings sent in and it only took a week or two for the waiver to get approved.

Also, ANY drug use results in a waiver. I was just shy of ISEL scores, but it wouldn’t have mattered because I also have a waiver from using marijuana 10-15 times

Adding onto this, on the last part of MEPs the doctor took my vitals with the scope thing and said I had an extra heartbeat. So I panicked like anyone would. THEN he took my Blood Pressure after telling me something was wrong with my heart. So at the end of the day. I had to go to two Urgent Care appointments for my BP and then I had to drive to Detroit😩 for a cardiologist appointment. I’m not even from Michigan. Somehow I did all of it in the span from July 10th to August 6th. The deadline was AUG15. N33 cleared me AUG12. Anything is possible

I don’t believe using marijuana under 10 times requires a waiver but any usage whatsoever will disqualify you from ISEL.

I had something and the doc at meps told me it needed a waiver but that it'll be cleared no problem and it got accepted in about 2-3weeks

Yup they got me too haha, and it's all good tbh, I was digging up old threads before asking my recruiter about it and there were at least 2 others on here maybe a year ago that were in the same situation as us but I think they got selected through regular board anyways after so we should be fine! It makes sense for recruiters to push us to I-Sel though because it's a double failsafe in a sense that if something like this happens we go to board regardless and if not then all's good and we get in through I-Sel.
It is way more common than you think.

Yeah I believe, at least from my recruiter, that official Navy policy is <10 times experimental usage of marijuana does not even require a waiver whatsoever--hence the big push from recruiters to send us to I-Sel anyways; just expect to be moved to regular board if you submitted I-Sel this way. But over 10 times, though, is another story... but regardless, I think Navy policy is still quite lenient with that at regular boards? I'm sure I've seen people on here or Reddit say that they got picked up anyway despite drug usage!
