Phrog on a Stick...

So my wife and I were in Beaufort this weekend, meeting with the officiant for our wedding in Charleston in September. We got there a little early (we had met with the wedding planner in Charleston, and drove to Beaufort on Saturday) and since I was having issues with the power supply for my laptop, we decided to stop by the PX and see if they had a Targus universal one. As we were driving onto the base, my heart dropped into my stomach and I started to feel sick... Luckily, my wife understood and we stopped to take a picture. While I'm sure there are some Phrogs on a stick somewhere... This was the first time I had seen one in person (even if it is a D, not an E).
 
Alas, there is one on a stick at NASNI now (Navy D model). Enough to make a grown man cry....
 
I was gonna say... I guess phrog hasn't made it to NASNI. That thing has been there for years. <twisting the knife a little>
 
Anyone ever see that Navy phrog thats on the ramp over at Pendleton?... its got that camo paint-scheme ... looks like a parts bird now since its rotors are removed.

It hasn't been "years" - 'cause that would mean I'm old. Don't expect to love the R like we loved the phrog....

I don't plan on loving the R at all... but time will tell.

Yeah, phrog, I think I saw the AFN propaganda blurb on it being put on a stick in 2002 or 03 while on deployment.

You felt sick because of a Phrog on a stick? Why? There are plenty of aircraft on sticks everywhere.
 
Plenty of other people's aircraft on sticks. This one was ours. I hope you feel that way about your bird one day.

I love my aircraft, and there aren't any Rhinos on a stick anywhere right now that I know of, but I fully expect to see one some day. There are plenty of Hornets and Tomcats on sticks. Maybe it's just different, seems like there are a lot more jets on sticks than helos, it's a common sight.
 
And maybe when you do see a Rhino on a stick, you'll be able to smile appreciatively and say "circle of life..."

Maybe this will explain it, it is an old joke about 46 pilots:

Q: How many 46 pilots does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: 6 (a whole detachment). 1 to change the bulb, and 5 to stand around talking about how much better the old bulb was.
 
Wow...

When I started flying the 60B my first sight on NS Mayport was the Bravo on a stick.. Just never seemed that odd to me..

IIRC, it was a PAX River bird that had been "Stricken" for some reason..

What is odd is there are NO other birds that flew out of NRB there.. Just a lone bravo.

H2, A4, etc...
