Chance for hockey?

BlackBearHockey

go blue...
Is there a chance to play some (somewhat) competitive adult league hockey while in the Navy? Specifically, anyone know of good leagues in Pensacola or Corpus? A good friend of mine is in one heading to the other and would love to get the skates on, and I would like to know for later purposes.

Someone on here mentioned a while ago that the league in corpus is legit. There is also that CHL team down there the Rayz, this is a big if but, I might try out for them and get a practice slot or pick up some extra cash playing in a couple games, though I'm well aware time is limited. (Sorry coach I can't come to the rink today I'm flying jets ;).) knock on wood of coursee

There is a Corpus league that several guys I know played in. Puck_11 was the leading scorer for a season or two. Send him a PM and he will get back to you when he gets out of SERE school.

That's who I spoke with...puck_11...glad my memory is so good i can't even remember a simple user name like that.

Hockey in Florida?

I can't name names, but let's just say

that there's a senior citizen's community in a southern state
that's in the market for a hockey team.
- The Chiefs? - Actually, it's Florida.
See, they're gettin' a bunch of old geezers down there from the northeast.
And what do you think those old geezers really miss in Florida?
Hockey. Their own team. A Saturday-night game.
Those poor old people down there, they gotta have something to root for.

Now, let me get this straight. A retirement community has bought the Chiefs?
- Oh, no. I said negotiating. - Well, that's not much to go on, Reggie!
Dickie, Dickie, they've already built the rink!
They've dumped a lot of capital into this.
What they're really lookin' for is a cheap deal on a team.
And since we ain't exactly the Boston Bruins...
How could anybody in his right mind buy a fifth-place team? That situation is gonna be changed, I guarantee you.

If you have ever played hockey and you don't know this movie, please hand in your man card now.:D

"Heres to all that gorgeous SNATCH in F-L-A"

I couldnt find any hockey in Pcola...as far as the league in Corpus. You have to show up for their "draft" they will not let you play if you miss it..."no exceptions". From what I hear its weak but at least you get to skate.

Do any of you guys remember PBH (Pro Beach Hockey - I think)? It was the roller hockey league that had the banks behind the nets, where they played in a fenced in court? Whatever happened to that? It was pretty cool to watch.

I used to have a set of those V-Form skates that they used. (Only mine were the first ones they came out with and had a huge metal or aluminum bar that the wheels were mounted to, so they probably weighed about 3 or 4 pounds each).
At 13 years old, I thought I was bad ass with those skates, but I don't think they were any better than the standard inlines.
