Yeah, I got that vibe. When I first enlisted they kept trying to convince me to go nuke (guess they liked my test scores and jobs/school prior to enlistment). I just politely refused (many many times) and went diver instead.
That was probably a good decision. I'm happy, but by now I'm sure I've been thoroughly institutionalized. Hell, my sense of humor is so broken that I have Rickover as my avatar. I alternate between laughing and wanting to kick my own ass.

Yeah, I'm not an ET so it took me a minute to make Chief. lol Yes, got there about a year into it and transferred off during the middle of the '06 deployment. Do you know MMC Evan Barnard from your Mobile Chernobyl days?

Not while I was on the Big E, but when I was a student at prototype. Barnard is one of the reasons I ended up where I did, him and Green. I was a sub vol, and after I saw the inside of the 635, and heard the stories from some of the ENTERPRISE sea returnees, I told the detailer I wanted to pull my sub vol. He said suck it, you vol'd, now pick sub ports. I told him I'd rather go to the Prize (Barnard talked it up a lot, I should have known better), than go to a submarine. I thought my detailer was gonna stroke out, cause no one ever volunteers for the Prize, ever. No one except me!

I know it may sound harsh, but there is a drastic difference btw guys who operated an A2W plant vs A4W guys. If you spend any time in an engineroom with either of these types you know what I mean

It's okay, this is my second tour as a Diver and I have to admit that I had more fun while I was working with the Marine Corps driving MRAPs, shooting guns and diving with them. Now that I'm at a salvage command I find myself in front of a computer way too often. I contemplate wearing a KM37 at my desk just to get some "dive time" in...

At least you guys get ur mind off it unlike some that have to watch message traffic wondering is the next one the one!!!

I am probably the only person on my ship that was happy that we got extended a week on our underway, this way I can check my email 24/7 and dont have to wait to go to work. But as soon as the results come out I want to go home!! LOL
