OCS Application changes

Some clarification was put out given that goaling is now by applications rec'd not people selected, they did figure out how to limit what is submitted and it is or has been sent out via manual change/emails, now all this was read to me over the phone as I was driving so I am putting down what I remember.

- all applicants must be physically qualified prior to submission of application
- GPA 3.0 or greater or will not be accepted, this might just be for Pilot/NFO/SWO/Supply
- ASTB scores in the upper band, this is thought to be 7,8,9

There is more info but I had to take another call, as I get it I will post it.

Can you get more information on the GPA part. My GPA is 2.99...
It would be really unfortunate if its strictly 3.0 and greater.

That is all the direction that was given, if they view the direction as they do the PA then there is no give, what NRC has said on other issues is there has to be a cutoff somewhere, and there will always be someone right below the cutoff.

Forgive my ignorance, but still a min of 35? What would you say would be competitive? Last month my recruiter said in the 40s for SWO and 50s for OCEANO options.

I have seen people in the 40's picked up and in the 60's turned down, the OAR is essentially a go - no go, if you have a 70 OAR but a 2.6 GPA they aren't going to care how high your OAR is. you won't have as good as a shot as someone with a 40 OAR but 3.6 GPA

The thing is there is a competitive profile sheet out there that hasn't been updated and some recruiters think it is gospel, well like any data it is only as good as the data put in and how often it is updated, so it fails on both.

important factors GPA, degree, LOR's, pers statement, OAR is like last.

If this does go into effect, when will it go into effect? Hopefully after this upcoming pilot board in Dec?

So what do I do now? What is my OR going to say?

If I were your recruiter I would submit and see what happens.

The way communication sucks at many NRD's, especially when it comes to emails from NRC it is possible many recruiters don't yet know or won't find out until they see their applicants being rejected.

I would say for a few yes, but in general the people being selected have had over 3.0, it is just a few that have been out of the norm, and from the ones I have seen they had 8 or 9 on the PFAR.
Yeah I guess its too bad for me since I got 8 on the PFAR.

Good to know. I have a 3.11 GPA and will be able to get several LOR's from GOFO's, plus in the METOC community. Just hoping to knock out the ASTB tomorrow.
