OCS Application changes

I'm okay with the events unfolding currently

Some clarification was put out given that goaling is now by applications rec'd not people selected, they did figure out how to limit what is submitted and it is or has been sent out via manual change/emails, now all this was read to me over the phone as I was driving so I am putting down what I remember.

- all applicants must be physically qualified prior to submission of application
- GPA 3.0 or greater or will not be accepted, this might just be for Pilot/NFO/SWO/Supply
- ASTB scores in the upper band, this is thought to be 7,8,9

There is more info but I had to take another call, as I get it I will post it.

Thanks as always for the steady stream of information and patient responses to our questions, NavyOffRec. That said, I'll pester you with something I've brought up before: In the context of the new goals, am I safe (that is, not an immediate DQ) with a 6/7/7 55 since the 6 was on the AQR? Submitting for Pilot/NFO/SWO. My GPA will be a little over 3.8 when I graduate in December.

Sucks for guys with sub 3 from more challenging schools/majors. Granted I know my gpa was my weak point, but at least I had a shot to showcase the other strengths of my application. Seems now recruiters would not talk to me if I had begun my application now.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, I don't think an OR will look at me now with a 2.7 and 7/7/7 58..

I have a feeling that NRC did this to keep recruiters from just shoving applications at NRC since goal is "application submitted" vice "people selected", to use you as an example odds are with your GPA and scores the selection chance was very small, but if NRC didn't set new parameters a recruiter might just say, sure apply, for him you would be one more person that gets him closer to goal. Now the recruiters will be forced to work harder and find those over 3.0

So sir are you saying if your ASTB scores are not 7 or higher don't even bother applying?

That is what people believe it means, they said "upper band", now generally people with a 6 are rarely picked up, and a 5 I don't think has happened for a bit, so really what NRC is doing is eliminating those applications that probably wouldn't be picked up anyway.

Are Fleet applicants under NRC as well or are they under their own separate group?

I guess I will find out today. Going to see my recruiter. I beleive my GPA is just below 3.0 depending on how they calculate all my credits from various institutions. My ASTB was 9/9/9 71. It's going to be a real bummer if I can't apply because I chose a difficult major.

The info just came out, so unless his chain of command has fwd'd the info he may not know yet, this wasn't out last week. Your OR may not even know you have to have your physical done and a PQ letter from N3M to submit your application.

You meet the requirements to apply, everything else is unknown, don't know the quality of other applicants or numbers they will have.

I take it you meet the age requirement.
